My AW4 is showing its age, and I was waiting for the AW10 to make up my mind.

My biggest hope was a significantly better battery life. Which is one thing that I don't see on the list.

Thinner ? Whatever. The current watch is thin enough for me.

Larger ? That's nice, but AW9 is plenty large.

Faster charging ? That's great, but I was really looking forward to a longer lasting battery. I charge at night.

So, it seems I will be looking for AW9 clearance sales, or may still pick a 10 if the cost difference is less than $150 or so.

Am I the only one who feels that this is yet another mildly incremental update ?

Incremental updates is why I'm also still on the series 4. The way I see it, this is the biggest hardware change since the 4 with a bigger screen and thinner casing so now is the time to change (and apple doesn't provide latest software for the 4, ha!). I do think you and I would see a significant difference in hardware between the 4 and 10, even though they seem small.

I'm upgrading from a Series 4 to a 10 or a black Ultra 2. I see it as a pretty decent upgrade over this long a time period.

Same here. My series 5 has rubbish battery life (battery in 76% health). I’d rather keep the thickness and boost battery life a bit. I was hopping the 10th model would be a redesign - maybe that’s coming next year?? I’m hesitant to buy now and a new design come next year. Maybe I’ll take the pain for another year if my useless battery.

If you’re happy with what you have, why are you upgrading? If not upgrade. That’s how all electronics upgrades work. The new Apple Watch has many features your older one does not have, but maybe you don’t care about those.

I was hoping to see an action button (and precision start) on the Series 10. I wear a Garmin for running and cycling, but often wear my AW for walks and smaller workouts during daily wear. I sold my AWU 2 as I think the regular AW looks and feels better, but those features are missed (as is the modular ultra watch face).

I kind of hate that they didn't upgrade the Ultra to 3. Because now it's an older piece of hardware that will have it's support dropped much sooner than I anticipate. Might just get the regular 10.

I’ll need to see the S10 in person to see if the thinner case is worth getting. I’m not pleased there was no talk about the O2 sensor. If it never had it, I wouldn’t care so much, but I have it and want to keep it.

I had really hoped for dual band GPS, because that would have made a real difference in GPS tracks in built up areas. The Ultra is a bit too big and heavy for my taste. Unfortunately didn't happen. Still time to upgrade though as my Series 6 battery is starting to have trouble getting through the day.

I'm fine with my 6 for the duration :)

Yeah, nothing really hooked me this cycle...

I'm on a 5 with 79% battery health and have to really tweak settings to get a full day of high elevation training with it. So I am keeping it and just bought an Ultra 2 on refurb for a Himalayan peak climb in the Fall. I figure I can train with the U2 and do day to day with the 5 and be good until some major feature updates.

Nope…I think this just might be the most lackluster AW update ever. I like the plan of picking up an S9 (e.g., Black Friday, Clearance, etc…) or holding off until teh S11.

Agreed. The question, though, is whether we'll see a significant difference in hardware between 9 and 10...

I am also on AW 4, but I have SS model. I am not sold on S10, especially now that SS model is gone and only aluminum and titanium are available. I really like the weight and feel of SS and I am not sure if Titanium is going to offer the same experience. I might also look for some deals and will try to snag S9 SS and call it a day.

My battery is shot. I believe it's at 67% ? Basically I take the watch off the stand at about 6:45 am and by 9 pm it's in the red without any workouts. With workouts, I pretty much have to recharge it first.

Also, they will no longer update it. If the battery life was still good, I'd forego the updates and keep AW4 for the next couple of years, I don't really see any major software improvements that really matter to me. Alternately, if they supported AW4 for another cycle, I'd just replace the battery. I have zero issues with AW4 other than the battery being at the end of its useful life.

AW3 to AW4 was a major update solely due to speed. AW3 was getting laggy by the time AW4 was released, but AW4 is still fast enough even all these years and updates later.

After AW4 it's all incremental, unless you're a big fan of always on display (I'd probably turn my off to preserve the battery).

Having had the AW4, I think the AW7 was a big jump up due to the increase in screen size (which makes it easier to see a lot of stuff on screen), always on display (which I like having access to) and general improvements in charging, speed, etc. I think upgrading to any of the modern watches (including 9) would be a big jump for you

I went from an S4 to S5 for cellular then to S6 to downgrade from SS to Aluminum so I wouldn't worry about using it for fitness plus I got a great deal at the time. I've been on the S6 ever since. Now going from S6 to S10. Upgrading now since it should still reasonably fit on my small wrist and it will be a welcome change from soft Silver to glossy Jet Black.
