I have been reading reviews saying that you will forget about the notch. I have used the iPhone X (iPhone Xpensive?) a few times in the Apple Store and I still have not forgotten about the notch in full screen mode with that notch covering the left side of the screen.

If Apple was selling iPhones with thousands of dead pixels (which is similar to having a notch), those reviewers would be saying the same thing, that you will get used it?

But Apple isn’t selling a device with dead pixels.

I’ve become more stupid for reading this.

I've always said it looks like dead pixels. I watch a lot of YouTube, movies and series in bed in the dark , and I like them in Full Screen on my phone's, and the 1st thing I keep noticing when an iPhone X goes Fullscreen is that freaking notch, and I think Dead Pixels.

Most folks complaining about the notch don’t even own a X.
People with a X don’t even notice it anymore or find that it’s much more convenient to have time and signal info up & out of the way.

As for people who watch videos/movies and pay attention to the far left or far right of the screen - I think you’re missing all the action that usually takes place center-screen.

X is a great update. I don’t care what nobody says!

It’s bad design doesn’t matter if you notice it or not. The notch would never have become part of the final design at “old Apple”.
The new Apple welcomes bad design and eventually it will be their downfall

Bad analogy. The Notch exists because of FaceID. If it didn’t need to exist then it wouldn’t. It’s not a big deal. If you get an X and use it then you’ll get over it soon. I originally advised everyone I knew to not get an X but then I caved in and got one and I couldn’t be happier.

It’s not a bad design. It is a only design possible right now to have a full screen. Once you own it, you will forget it. I’ll take this over a double light saber sword edge screen on any Samsung phones. Yes, those edge curves is a horrific design with image distortion and is a glare galore. Hmmm, talking about a bad design.

(which is similar to having a notch),
Its not similar.

Apples and oranges.
In one case Apple chose to have a portion of the screen to be "cut out" or not covered by the display panel, i.e. the notch. The other is the display panel being defective. In the latter a promised feature is not working as advertised, in the former, a design decision is being asked by the consumer to be embraced.

Old Apple would also still be using 3.5” screens...o_O
How would YOU have implemented Face ID without the “notch”? Would you put it on the back of the phone instead? Or would you have left a thick bezel up top, leaving unused space on the face of the device?

Are you saying Face ID can't be implemented without a notch? This is obviously incorrect.

I see dead pixels.
These are not really dead pixels. These are removed pixels.

I'm amazed you don't work for Apple, since you know it's bad design and all.

Btw. The notch is a touch area as well. You can swipe down from it to reveal the notifications.
