I purchased the phone through AT&T. I live about 100 miles away from the closest Apple store, so going in for a replacement was out of the question. I did go to AT&T to see about replacing it, but they refer you to Apple for a defective unit. Honestly, this was the last straw with AT&T. I've had numerous issues with the company, seemingly every time I get a new phone. So, I just returned the phone, went down the road a half mile and opened an account with Verizon. They had the 512 in stock, which was great, and I walked out with a working phone and there was no hassle.

I suspect I will continue to have problems with AT&T for the next month or so because their billing system NEVER reflects the changes correctly, so I'll probably get double billed again, have them try to keep sending me bills for service I no longer have, etc.

I suspect no one is truly happy with their wireless carrier, but AT&T can just completely #### off.

This is good advice. Always if you can, overlook the device in the store, take a minute to activate it, that way if there is another issue, they can address it right there in the store versus having to wait for any back orders or potential delays for stock.

Bought it online.

I’m a hundred miles from an Apple store.

Just call and have them send a replacement. Use the current one until then. Make sure the replacement is brand new. iow: not the same replacement you get with AC+.

I just got the phone and started setting it up.

I have a X XS Max and the notch doesn't seem to be right. On every app, the notch has a little bubble coming off of the right side. I can't quite see it, but I think the hardware notch and the software notch aren't aligning, so the camera underneath that hole is showing through the side of the notch.

Is this normal? Is it just that the notch isn't scaling right on the iPhone X XS Max?

I’m deciding whether to be that guy and tell you that your picture is totally normal.

Dude.

Come on.

Get ye to the Applery.

You think? That’s a for sure thing.

I have true exact same issue :/ black Xs max 512 gb

Photo? If it's 100% identical it could a software glitch confusing the placement of the soft notch for the smaller Xs when on the Xs Max.

Try a full Xs Plus iOS image restore to see if it goes away.

Interestingly, the soft notch hints at in-screen sensors on the upcoming iPhone XIs Plus.

That’s weird that all of the notch defects (including mine) seem to be on all of the max models and all in the same area with different sized defects.

What's even more weird is if they do any kind QC that would catch this glaringly obvious defect.

Good point! I think they’ve been lacking in the QC department for sometime, but this is particularly unlike them given how obvious it is.
