Scroll down a little and read the part about phablets

ACSI data on smartphone models shows that bigger is better when it comes to customer satisfaction. Samsung’s “phablet” Galaxy Note5 gets the top mark at 86, besting Apple’s iPhone 6s Plus at 85. The largest-screen iPhones do better than the smaller models of the same generation. Nearly all of the top-rated smartphones in the study are made by Apple or Samsung, with Motorola’s Moto G as the lone exception.

… the part about phablets …

Ah thanks. My bad for not properly reading that release. Sorry. I confess I have absolutely no idea about (no interest in) sizes of the Galaxy stuff, that's probably why I read too much into the title of this topic.

No worries....if we are taking customer service Apple would win hands down :)

There really is no denying the Note series represents the peak of smartphone development.

The next iteration is sure to be astonishing.

I really hope Apple takes the bait and at least pretends to offer a real competitor.

So the Moto G is as good or better than all other Samsung and Apple phones and only five "points" behind the leader? Not bad for $100 phone.
The price was likely the factor driving it up as you will overlook a multitude of things on a $150 phone compared if you just spent $700+. Customer satisfaction and a device being 'better' from a hardware perspective are not same thing. There is a price distortion affect when it comes to these type of satisfaction surveys.

I haven't read the original article, and I do think the Note phones are fantastic. But I wonder if the Note is somewhat at an an advantage in customer satisfaction surveys.

I would guess that the customer base for Note phones has a higher percentage of aficionados than any other phone. These are users who have bought into the unique elements of the Note over many generations. As such, they're primed to be satisfied. Apple probably has this advantage too, but perhaps its higher with the Note customer base.

Looking forward to the features the s pen will come with this year...be good that we in the uk will finally see it this time around

Year after year they have tried with that Plus model, but all it seems to be is an iPhone with a larger display and OIS.

Samsung have been smart in creating the SPen and SPen Suite, the WACOM Digitizer alone completely sets it apart from everything else, and also making the Notes always a bit more powerful than the S models has helped.

I don't know how true this rumor is but the note 6/7 (what ever they call it)

is going to be a real power house as samsung are rumored to be creating a dumb laptop that the note will power.

If the rumors are true, it'll be interesting to see how Apple positions the "pro" version of the iphone this year.

I agree the Note series currently feels like the most pro smartphone one could get. So much power and functionality behind it. This year's Note should be another success if they add back the SD card and waterproofing. Plus rumors point to a 4,000 mah battery? That's would be a big win.

To be fair, Apple has only been in the phablet business for one product cycle, the 6/6S Plus. So they are very new to this game.

Still, what are the odds of them offering anything that comes close to being a real Note competitor? 0.0%.

Like you said, Apple seems content to just offer a larger iOS experience and that's it. Hardly earth shattering.

I find this hard to believe when I had a 6s plus and move to a note 5 and now an s7 edge. The battery life on the Note 5 was terrible. The s7 so far is the best phone out of them all. But the Iphone was a great phone too with great battery life.

Well at least the iPhone 7 will be good for waterproof and a very good camera. What else is added who knows at this point

Right. I'm surprised some Apple folks here aren't claiming it's because they want to cause customer confusion with the iPhone 7.

Yeah I'm utterly amazed that there is no front page breaking headlines on Macrumors: "Samsung copies the number "7" from Apple". Seriously.

Everything I've seen indicates the upcoming model 7 will be a very impressive smartphone.

That said, I find it incredibly maddening that Apple is sitting back allowing the competition to shame them.
Shame them?

Oh sure, Apple is fat and happy with a belly full of cash. They continue to make the most money from high gross profits, but that's not benefitting the customers, other than Devotees living vicariously through Apple.

The fact is, if Apple applied themselves they could build a smartphone so far superior to others they'd be a clear leader in hardware as well.

So, no shaming. Got it.

Also landscape is seldom used in apps for some reason.

Sure, "shaming them" might be the wrong words, but it isn't far off when you're discussing the actual technology. Are we here to discuss the technology or company profits? Either is fine, but in one of those categories, that descriptor isn't outrageous; Apple is being steadily beat on a number of different fronts when it comes to the actual technology (this applies to both hardware and software).

Companies pull ahead here and there and at times it will be one or another, as will always be the case, and while there's perhaps some "shaming" that happens when something truly on that level happens, it doesn't seem like anything like that has happened here.
