notebook only users

I've been notebook only for a couple of years now, though I do have a pretty desktop-ish setup at home (external monitor, KB, mouse, external HD's, wacom tablet, etc).

I've been kinda thinking about switching to a mac pro next time round though. 😱
 
I still have my old PC desktop... even though i've gone through 2 newer laptops already. i spent alot of time and effort silencing/modding it, so i am still somewhat attached to it.

comes in handy when i need to copy cd/dvds or download large torrent files.
(i can just leave it on and bring my laptop w/ me)

other than that though, i use my mbp almost exclusively day to day. it's the greatest computer i've ever used. 😎 :apple:
 
My primary machine is a MBP. My wife's is her MB. I keep my mini as a backup machine (in case of repairs), file server, and soon to be media server for apple TV.
 
Desktopless for 4 yrs now. Started out as a space thing (smaller house) now it's convenient! No need for a workstation.. much more enjoy working from the deck on a nice day rather than the spare room with one small window😉
 
I just got my first portable: MB 13" (my old Mac "Luggable doesn't count!). I find that I do use it more than my G5 for many things, but when I'm doing graphics, I just can't ween myself off of my 23" Cinema display. (even if I can't work from the couch!)
 
3 years on laptops now. My frst was a Toshiba which was *****, then a PowerBook and now a MacBook.

I've a nice little set up with a 19" external monitor and hd and a bluetooth keyboard and mouse and a tablet (which I rarely use) and a load of wires running to a usb hub. I've even forgotten the uses for some of the wires. I have that set up in Dublin, and then I just close up shop and go portable for college and going home at the weekend.

It suits me perfectly, and at present I see no need for a desktop (maybe I'll get one when I finish college, or maybe not)
 
I've been using an ibook for the past year. And the next thing i will be getting is a macbook. No more desk tops.
 
I ditched my desktop when I bought my amazing Macbook Pro! I still have a 22" Samsung monitor with apple bt keyboard/mouse for when I need it at a desk - school work mostly but games and things alike. Theres an undeniable benefit though to being able to sit anywhere in your house and use a computer on your lap without having to sit at a desk (on my couch right now). And if you want that benefit, and have a strong laptop, theres no need for a desktop
 
Switched from PC to MBP this Fall at the beg of the semester. I am happy. I am in college and it is perfect for me. But soon I will be in the market for a iMac for my fiance. But my main one will still be the MBP. It makes it easier to have a 20" monitor to run with the lappy.
 
PB user for a few years now. Love being portable but do find the limited disk space to be a bit troubling. Do have an external drive but have been thinking about getting a desktop possibly an older G4 PM as storage for my music and other stuff.

Would like to have an iMac. Mostly just for the screen.
 
I bought and returned an imac in december, i am SO much better off with a macbook pro...it has the same specs as the imac apart from the HD, and it sits so much better on my desk at university! And there is the added bonus of how easy it is to travel with a mbp as opposed to a 20" imac!
 
i don't have a desktop in the house. We have a 2001 TiBook, early MBP, my MB, and mum's work Toshiba.

Considering the notebooks are almost as powerful as the desktops now, I don't think we're missing out on anything 😀

I agree. I don't see much need to have a huge desktop cluttering up my desk. I'm notebook only myself.

MacBook now, and before that a Dell notebook. The Mac is much better.😉
 
I have! I used a desktop PC my whole life until a year ago when I bought an iBook G4. I thought I'd use both, but the PC has since been left collecting dust in my closet. Now I've upgraded to a MacBook, and it remains the only computer I use.🙂
 
My old desktop is now a 250gig music box. Sits next to the stereo and well.... It plays music. Have not touched it other than to load a new playlist since I got my Macbook.
 
I bought a new macbook and lovedit... BUT bought a old imac G4 and dont ask me why(check my posts here)this is sooooo much faster...also hated charging the thing and watching the Batt. go down...so i sold it 🙂
 
After receiving my MacBook, my old PC desktop sees very little use. Once I get an external HD I might just give it away. But when I'm doing work, i usually connect to my external monitor for more workspace.
 
When it was time to replace my desktop in late 2003 I bought into the notebook craze. First notebook Compaq Presario, Second notebook Gateway and Current notebook MacBook. I'm never going back to Windows.
 
i've used 4 notebooks over the last three years, no desktops. my 5 yo has a desktop but i only use it to help him. i dont use external monitors or mice, just the mb.
 
I've pretty much entirely switched from my PC desktop to my MBP. I've only used the PC to watch a movie or two stored on my internal drives, but I think that's it.

No more desktops for me! No need to take up space in my apartment, the MBP does it all!

Wouldn't mind getting a mini to use a a media centre, but for computing, it's notebook ALL the way!

is a 15 in screen too small for daily computing. i know get an external monitor I may but I like to use notebook in couch.

I use a 15" MacBook Pro for daily usage like Safari, Mail, watching Anime, Photoshop, etc. and I find it fine. I do have a 15" LCD external monitor but I don't use it as much as I thought I would.
