My new ipad is about the same as my ipad 2.

I can see some bleed if I whack up the brightness in a dark room but I never noticed it in a year of use on the old one.

I think everyone gets a bit over critical at first with a new toy!

i posted a bunch of pics earlier of my bleed that i have this is my second one already if i wait a couple of months will i be able to get a new ipad i have apple care + and everything?

So I noticed a light spot on the lower right while watching a video. I took the photo on 100% brightness in a dark room with the HDR setting on the iPhone.

What you you experts think? It's my first iPad, and I did notice it in use, rather than to go looking for problems. Is it enough to exchange, or do you guys think it's acceptable?

Thanks for your help. :)

This one actually looks much, much better than many others I've seen. If you exchange it, you are likely to get a worse display, imo.

basically every ipad suffers from this? i mean from what i have been getting at is this is common in ipads this is my first ipad 3rdgen and i just swapped my ipad out yesrday to find out the one i got has the same problem i dont know what to do now because im afraid the next one i get it will have the same thing

I know I have some bleeding but it's not enough for me to exchange it. I probably wouldn't have even noticed it if I didn't learn about it on the boards. I know I won't be watching a video in the dark so it doesn't bother me much. I can see why people want it perfect though. I am also afraid of what I could get it if I exchange. Not worth it for me.

This is the important thing. If in your own eyes you see nothing wrong with it then why go and try to find things wrong with your product? i used to be one of the people that did this (with iPhones). I would return my iPhone 2 or 3 times until I had some "perfect specimen". Here is the thing to think about:

When you purchase a car, do you go through every nook and cranny to make sure that everything is 100% perfect? Car's are way more expensive than iPhones and iPads, but I have never once done this with the many cars I have had. Why then do I do this to a mass produced tech gadget that costs around $500 and is produced in China?

You are right. I was watching a movie before in the dark bathroom to see if I noticed it. Then I proceeded to laugh because I am pretty sure I won't use the iPad to watch a video in the dark bathroom. Plus-my eyes focus on the movie-not the spot below it. I'm happy with mine. But mine may be less than other people's screens.

I wasn't picking on you necessarily - I apologize if it came off that way. I'm just throwing it out there for everyone (including myself, since I use to do this as well). Heck, I know when I go to restaurants my food never looks like the pictures, but I don't return it because of this reason. :D

Hard to say by looking at a photo, I think all ipads have blacklight bleed to a certain extent; some worst than others. Mine has a few spots at the bottom where the home/ speakers are located. But its so small under normal conditions you don't see it. You honestly have to be looking for it, or view a black image in the dark room to notice it, even still you have to be looking for it to see it.

Like everyone said, what matters is how it bugs you. 100 people can tell you its normal, but if it bugs you, then it bugs you.

Nope-didn't feel picked on at all. This is my first iPad and my husband and I love it-back light bleed and all!
