Personal preference for me. Higher res = better experience as you can fit more on the screen.

Small text does not bother me, however maybe in 30 years i'll sing a different tune.

about 5 or so years ago I'd buy IBM laptops with hi-res 1680 x 1050 and loved them. Now I look at those screens and can't even read them. Tempting as the extra real estate would be, I now have trouble on my 24" with 1920 x 1080 so thinking I'll stick with the "standard" res. Time keeps ticking and my eyes are suffering from it.....

Mmm, both your comments might have just changed my mind about whether to get high-res or not - so are you saying that high-res will basically mess up your eyes, and you'll have a poor eyesight after a while of using it? If i'm sacrificing my eyesight for a tiny bit more real-estate, I might pass on that option. Please let me know!

And do you think it affects EVERYONE's eyes or only certain people e.g. older users etc? Cheers bud

i think the point was that as they get older and their eyesight starts to deteriorate, it becomes more difficult to read smaller text etc.

a high res display makes text smaller, so it may be harder for some people to read than a standard res display.

I am older but vision is corrected to 20/20. Using a laptop all day, the normal res is just more easy for me to work with. I have used both.

This is personal preference and best to visit your local Apple Store

I've been staring at computer screens for almost 40 years, starting with the old green and amber text on black backgrounds. High-res or not, if you do it long enough, it will have an impact on your vision.
