Would you care to explain how to make your macintosh hard drive look like your computer instead of looking like a hard drive? I cant believe I cant figure out how to do this...

Right click on the hard drive icon and chose "Get Info" this will open the info box you will see a small icon on the top. Click on it and it will have a soft blue glow around the icon. Choose an icon you want to replace it with (Make sure it's an .icns icon as its the only one it replace it with) and copy the icon you have chosen. Now go back to the get info window and got edit and paste and it will change it to your new chosen icon
