I really hope that Apple will be reviving the 12" Macbook next month. They'll probably focus firstly (or only) on ARMing their current lineup, but one can hope...

PLUS, the iPhone would NOT be thin anymore thus violating Apple's # 1 rule.
Yes, way too thick over the last few years especially, and lately way too heavy, unless you’re looking to club someone over the head with a brick-like object.

Glad they’re finally getting thinner and lighter again.

If Apple can sell an Apple TV for $200, I don't see why a hypothetical ARM Mac Mini with an A14 derivative and more storage and RAM couldn't be $400 or thereabouts.
Oh wow. How long have you been aware of Apple as a company?! While hypothetically a company *could* design its own CPUs with world-leading performance and decide to undercut its competitors by passing on the savings to its consumers, Apple is *not* that company.

In other words: it's payoff time right across the lineup for all the R&D designing ARM chips for iPhones and iPads, selling them in their Macs, and not passing on the savings to their consumers. I'd be very surprised if, say, the new MacBook 12 with ARM would go for anything less than $1200. They're offering lightning-fast speed *and* all-day battery life in a super-lightweight format. People will - and do - pay for that. It's got nothing to do with the costs of the actual components, of course.

ok, now that Apple brought MagSafe to the iPhone why can't they bring it back to laptops??? please!
I agree.

If there is anything on Apple's product line up that needed MagSafe, its the laptops.

It is funny to go back and watch old "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" ads for MagSafe. Apple just seemed to get it back then. Not sure what happened.

That's funny you say that. I've always considered my iPhone Max a secondary defense weapon. :D

Steve Jobs passed away, that’s what happened.

I can appreciate that with USB-C, 40gbps thunderbolt, etc, certain technical evolutions might have made Apple attracted to a do-all port. But...at what cost?

I’m doubtful, but I’d love it if MagSafe made a return to the MacBooks with the new ARM models.

Citation please. during the WWDC keynote, Apple said the transition would take *TWO* years. Please don't give people inappropriate expectations.

Maybe just the fact, that last time Apple pronounced also a two year transition period, but took just 8 months from the introduction of the first to the last Intel mac. Or 14 months from announcement to completion.

It makes excellent business sense to under-promise and over-deliver. Especially in a transition where folks are skeptical.
