Apps came in 2.0
Copy/paste came in 3.0
Multitasking came in 4.0
Widgets are coming in 5.0
Then, an improved notification system is coming in 6.0

Apple won't hit us all at once with great features, if they did, why would we upgrade every 1/2 years?

what i wish is when i click on the weather app it would show current location. instead of manually entering in a city. could be nice for those that travel a lot.

Get the Weather Channel app. It does exactly this and gives a lot more information than the built in app. It has totally replaced it for me.

For those that have had / or used a Palm Pre with webOS.

Wouldn't it be nice if the bottom area of the iPhone was touch like the Palm Pre and swiping up revealed the "Multi-tasking" bar, it would feel much more fluid and natural.

Yes, I would definitely love that. Webos is truly a wonderful os and in many ways better than ios, too bad the hardware and support aren't there.

Personally, I think this will come to iOS. The fact that the calendar icon changes already hints to us that there is a mechanism within the OS to have 'dynamic' icons - the capability is there.

I think Apple will limit it to a practical use rather than an aesthetic one, for example, turning the cogs on the settings icon. I think they would prefer to have dynamic auto-location based weather icons and a real clock icon etc.

In summary, I don't think we'll see animation, but we will see dynamically changing icons.

My money is firmly on this being in iOS 5.

This has been discussed in another thread, but basically, for the calendar you have 1-31 as the icon set. With a dynamic weather icon, you would have -XX to XXX for the temp, plus the icon itself, all while continually pulling for the current information and determining location.

I see where you are coming from. I think that overlaying is the answer, similarly to how the red notification circle is overlaid on the top corner of icons. All sorts of little pictures could be overlaid, temps, a cloud, a sun etc. - Apple would find a way. (I'm not saying just in the top corner by the way!)

It fascinates me how long sighted Apple must have been when they first released the iPhone OS. It clearly had so much more from the very beginning, I just can't wait to see what more they can do with it before a large jump. A jump similar in scale to OS9 - OSX.

I think animated icons would be a nice touch to take up the power of the A4!

Clock icon= displays the time with sweeping second hand
Settings= cogs rotate
Compass= it spins
Weather= actually displays a cloud,rain,sun etc
Folder icons= scrolls through contained apps then back to grid

Also a row by row swipe so you can pull your faves along to the front instead of swiping a whole grid!
:)

Do you work for Google?

This belongs among the worse "proposals" I have ever had to read on this forum.

No, they'll just look tacky and be incredibly distracting.

And folders.=, and an increase in resolution and image quality. But then, the UI hasnt' changed much because it works well.

It constantly seems like there are two camps in the PC/mobile device world: people who want their devices to look pretty, and people who actually rely on them to do real work.

funny, cause I like that

Would like to see the clock display the time yes, and the weather display temp yes don't want them to move about though,

would like to see the IP4 show off it's power more!

I'm sorry...is it really that difficult to look at the time on the top of the home screen??

I never thought of the "clock" app as an actual clock...I use it as a timer and alarm....I look at the TIME on the top of the phone for the actual time.

I do wish there was a weather app like I've seen on Droid....sometimes I am in a windowless office or meeting and am curious what it is like outside (especially since I drive a Jeep...:rolleyes:)

Ugh.

The one thing I never never understood is why can't the built-in weather app show the current weather? The calendar app shows the current date!

Of course make it optional, as it would suck down some internet connection to update but make it available for goodness sakes!

But do people really use the weather app to find out what the weather is now? Personally I look out of the window for that and use the app to see what it's going to be like at the weekend.

OK, some people do work in windowless environments but if the weather really has changed that drastically since you got to work, then in my experience the weather app isn't going to be accurate and granular enough to show that anyway.

If the driod can have animated backgrounds, we can have animated icons.. get with the program Apple!

I don't know about all those animated icons except the clock displaying the right time and the weather displaying the current temperature and condition (Sunny/Cloudy/Rain/Snow etc...) That's really what I would like.

Come on :apple: !!!!!!

WTF
No it's not difficult to look at the top of the screen, but would be nice if it did show the time.

I think it's a neat suggestion but Apple won't do it until they can figure out how to do it while maintaining the "style" of the iPhone 4.

If they just let developers go wild then the phone will quickly end up looking like a gif-infested website from the 90's. ;)

I just feel that the icons should update. Its really nice on my coworkers driod how it auto updates the current weather based on the city you are currently in on your home screen, etc.. To be honest I don't want a crazy background myself, but it's your phone, not apples, so if you want it to look like a bad website from the 90's, then so be it.

Additionally, many people have multiple weather maps, how would it know which one to display? Sure, the "front" one makes sense, but if you're on a multi-city trip, rearranging each time seems needless. I'm not saying it woudn't be nice, it's just complicated.
