I ordered two online about 3 hours ago. Just got a call from best buy customer service verifying my order? Asked for shipping address, email, and dob. Googled the number and people are saying it's their fraud department. Hope that's not a scam...
So, following this thread, I called in the morning to try to change shipping from free to expedited to get it by Friday, instead of next week. Was told that it was preparing for shipping and it could not be changed.
About ten minutes later, I get the tracking number.
About ten hours later, when the tracking number became active, I see that the expected delivery is Thursday! It's travelling the 200 miles or so to get to me overnight.
Consider me very pleasantly surprised.

mine is coming from maumee OH. Placed order at 1040am this morning for 512 SG, best buy's site told me the the cutoff was 1030am for friday delivery, so either I wait till monday or pay $30 for express. I took a chance and stayed with my free expedited shipping (I'm a elite plus rewards zone member), got 2nd day air tracking around 5pm, it just went live, eta friday end of day.
Mine is set to deliver Thursday between 12-4

Ordered mine yesterday after the store in town dicked me over. Shipped out today gets here Friday.
Mine is the same, really hoping I get it by Friday. Initially it said the shipping would get it to me Friday and then when I put in my credit card and address it said Thursday, but it still hasn't notified me that it shipped.

That is what mine said right before it shipped. I bet they overnight them all, so they do not ship until the day before delivery. Yours should ship today and be there Friday.
Did you get your order in before 10:30 CST? That was the cutoff for delivery today.
edit: As of 15 minutes ago it is out for delivery.

Ordered mine on the 10th, base gold, shipped out yesterday, was sure would get it by tomorrow, but tracking now shows Tuesday as BB used ground instead of expedited, am an Elite Plus member and when I bought it, it selected expedited so have no idea why they choose ground so guess have to wait.
Hey so does it have to be unopened to return to Best Buy? Because for Apple you can open and use it, right?
Basically what I'm trying to decide is whether to wait for the 1.3 or not. I originally wanted to wait till people started getting those to see the reviews and learn if it is worth the upgrade over the 1.2..but I'm wondering if I could proceed with getting the 1.2 using coupons from best buy, which would be the best deal, and then if the 1.3 gets amazing reviews in a couple of weeks, still be able to return it and switch to the 1.3

Missed the cutoff by 88 minutes then. Still no ship notification, but I guess I should feel confident in it going out today.

But I could've ordered a 1.2/512 macbook retina at that time with 1-3 days shipping. I always max out my computers and did so here - but the wait time went to 3-4 weeks.
So, when I saw Best Buy (which I typically avoid like the plague) had the 1.2/512 in space gray with express delivery I was not a believer. Well, ordered last night at 11:10 pm (Wednesday) and just got my "shipped" notification on email, text and on the BB website to be delivered tomorrow (Friday).
I'm jazzed. Still gotta wait for the Watch but never thought I would have had to wait up to a month for the macbook. Now I don't.
Will buy care over the phone this weekend and bam. . . done!

This is what I'm considering just doing as well. You feel confident that there isn't much performance being missed out on by not getting the max'd version? I was initially thinking I needed it, but especially considering the 1.2 could be ordered much sooner from best buy and it isn't just cheaper because of not upgrading the processor but since we can use coupons for it, may be well worth it..
I can't answer your question on performance, but the math was persuasive to me. For a $300 upcharge you get a .1 gHz bump and twice the fixed storage. The cost of a bump to 1.3 gHz is $250 for both stock versions. Add (or I guess I should say subtract) the fact that you can use a 10% coupon on the Best Buy stock machines and the 1.2/512 version looks very attractive.
Same thing happened to me. Best Buy called UPS on the phone who confirmed they received the shipping label as ground. Since error is on BB side they will provide some type of compensation if you call in (can't reship another one for faster deliver since they are now backordered again).
Yup I agree that it is attractive - so much so, in fact, that I just bit the bullet and bought it! Used the movers coupon online, no rushed shipping. 1.2 space gray to be delivered to me by next friday the 24th. Can't wait.

Only two days in but I'm totally impressed. Given the amount involved and the fact that I own and love a 13" rMBP, having no second thoughts says something. I need to flog this machine a bit this weekend to get a sense for its limitations, but so far, it's really great.
