Now that the 13 mini is gone from the Apple Store in the USA, I won't be buying another iPhone until my 13 mini is unrepairable. The 15, 16, 17 are already dead to me.

What do other mini owners say?
Clearly trolling.

There's no way a consumer would logically reject technological advances many years beyond a device that reached end of life in 2021, just because it was slightly smaller...

Spoiler: it won't
Maybe no more iPhone Mini, but the flip and fold-phones are most likely in development at Apple too.
I'm not worried, a smaller phone for the pockets will come and will be available when my Mini isn’t to my pleasure anymore. I can change battery one time too, but my mini is doing well at 90% 🔋

I still hope that Apple is following how popular the 13 mini remains amongst many people and how prices remain stable/ high for those devices.

Whenever I’m in the minority, like for preferring the mini over large phones, I typically consider this an advantage rather than a burden. Not following all other sheep but doing my own thing…

LOLOLOL 🤣

I have a 32" 720p tee-vee without a stereo soundbar
A car without lane centering, automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, etc.
A motorcycle without ABS
No programmable thermostat
No automatic gate opener — I get out of my car to lock/unlock and open/close
No sprinkler/drip system for outdoor plants
No dishwasher
No ice maker in the freezer
No garage — only a shed
But I do have Starlink

But you said it yourself: "There's no way a consumer . . ."

I don't identify as a "consumer" — I identify as an individualist who selectively rejects technological advances.

13 mini is full baller. Keeping mine until entropy gets the better of it. Certainly I will never buy another iPhone until that grotesque dynamic island is dumped.

Hay guyz I have a great software idea that we could use if we’re ever stupid enough to punch I giant slot in the display for no reason.

🤦‍♂️

Or the mini with the non-Max regular iPhone. They could also mark it down $100. That would sell in droves.

Splitting hairs.
That the Pro is for.
It doesn't seen likely that Apple would downsize the Pro to achieve your dream.

Sure. Not my dream, and I wouldn’t ever expect Apple to do it. Just commenting on someone else’s.

I gave my 13 mini to my brother when his flip phone broke. He likes the small size to fit in his pocket easy. If it breaks I hope to get him another used 13 mini.

Continue consuming blindly the latest and the greatset UltraMaxPro iPhone brick devices… while people with Mini 13 enjoying their smaller phones.
What about those who make good use of an iPhone (non-Pro) for 2-3 years, are ready to upgrade (to a non-Pro) & are not too stubborn about rejecting all on offer because of screen size?

Placing screen size above all else in the smartphone world, whilst rejecting clear technological advances in almost every other facet means you‘re sacrificing a much more satisfying & efficient experience on a device you’ll be using more than most.

Hello fellow consumer 😏

That list lacks the very thing we’re discussing - a smart phone.

You’re free to reject any tech you want, but eventually, discontinued tech reaches end of life-support & when you do finally upgrade, all the other advancements in say a smartphone are evident, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.

Stubbornness with tech is a losing game. Embrace & adapt & you‘ll be right 🙂

It’ll take a long time given that the SE1 from 2016 is still very usable today with full access to all the most popular apps. I can’t see the iPhone 13 Mini becoming truly obsolete until around 2030.

Yeah, might be a few years off, though I wouldn't want to see how it performs then nor its battery.

Most people will realise it's time to move on before then anyway. Well, you'd think so. The SE4 may be the nearest replacement?

Besides screen size and a bigger battery, what technological advances do you get with the iPhone 15 (non Pro) over the Mini 13 that make it so ‘old’? newer CPU that in daily use makes no difference? camera?

Even SE1 works smoothly to this date without “sacrificing a much more satisfying & efficient experience” let alone Mini 13. Actually it's the opposite, compared to big screens, iPhone with smaller screen is much more satisfying because it’s more comfortable to carry and use on a daily basis.

I characterise 13 mini as being modern but with the vibe from a bygone era where miniature cellphone tech was a marvel.

It’s absolutely my favourite ever iPhone and all I’ll ever want from one 👍

Maybe for you, but my eyes are old and I'm used to a much larger display in general.
That's why I chose a Pro over a Mini, and had it not been for the additional bulk and weight of the Max, I'd have preferred it over both.

You’ve mentioned some of them…
newer CPU that in daily use makes no difference?
It‘s a noticeably smoother experience going from the 13 to 15 for me.
More zooms & better quality camera.

Are we sure about this? & let’s not ignore its poor use of screen real estate due to the archaic finger print sensor & massive borders.

Also;
More RAM - Less App re-loads.
Bionic chip improvements - Faster, more consistent Face ID.
Better Wifi/Bluetooth tech - More responsive Smart Home/Wireless accessory integration.
Better modem - If anything, a cellular boost.

+ much more.

& all the above are more efficient, extending the life of the battery - a major shortcoming of the smaller iPhone.

Yes, we knew this was the main point. But to reject all the new tech because you can’t let go of a smaller screen?

The tech leaps are so small these days, that even holding to a mini, instead of buying the 15, is completely ok and 90% of people wont notice any difference. but those 90% WILL notice the difference between holding a heavy cumbersome Ford Truck in theri hands, rather than a sleek and elegant mercedes coupe

I'm sick of thick ass, heavy ass phones. How is it even possible that the pro models are going to get BIGGER this year? Insanity.

I'm using an SE 3rd gen alongside my 14 Pro and while both have their advantages, if the SE had 120hz I honestly would ditch the 14 Pro. You do notice the smaller screen size (especially your fingers)...but you become used to it not long after. I will admit going back to the 14 Pro screen does feel like a luxury with the much better screen quality, but then you have to haul it around. I don't care about screen size as much as I do the quality of it.

Really hope they bring back the Mini form factor with the next SE and add 120hz and a Dynamic Island. Never going to happen, but that would 100% be my ideal phone. At the rate things are going though, I'd be happy with an iPhone 16 non-pro as long as it had 120hz.

I had the 12 Mini and the 13 Mini. I caved. completely and totally, and bought a 15 Pro. I would have milked the 13 Mini a bit longer, but honestly that battery life was absolutely killing me.

So, is my 15 Pro too big? Yes and no. As I'd expected, one-handed operation is kludgy at best. As I had not expected, the impact of it being in my pocket is not so bad. The larger screen is more immersive and UI elements generally easier to use. I like having a larger map on screen when I drive. And the true all-day battery life takes away the battery anxiety I was suffering through with the Mini.

The big question for me now is, would I buy (say) a 16 Mini if it appeared? The answer is... probably not? I was very adamantly of the opinion that 6"+ iPhones are too large, and whil I still think they're sub-optimal from an ergonomic perspective, on every other front they're better for me. My coworker has a 13 Mini and every time I see it I now wonder how I got along using it (again, I'm very surprised at my 180 on the subject).

It's not the smaller screen per se but smaller size and lighter weight. I have small hands so smaller phones are just easier to operate one-handed plus I hate having heavier phones weigh down one side of my pants/shorts/jacket.

I have both iPhone SE3 and 15 Pro. The battery life on the 15 Pro was invaluable when I was on vacation and needed the extra juice. Now, I don't need it so I'm back to using the SE3 as my daily driver (it's always on a charging dock at the office anyway).

Performance-wise, the 15 Pro (A17 Pro) might do better at benchmarks but for my normal use, it's not much different from the SE3 (A15).

Want something you can use while walking down the sidewalk holding a grocery bag and cup of coffee or while riding the subway holding on to the rail? Out of luck.
My AirPods work just as well with all of them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ my only concern about the phone is, that it's small enough to fit in a pocket.

I bought a 2nd hand 13 mini in red just for curio. I’m currently using a 15 Pro Max and I’m looking forward to the size of it. Should be in my hand/s tomorrow. Strange thing is that it is still in warranty until August 2024 and it has been lightly used with 100 % battery life.
