How is this issue just a "preference"?

I think and hope this is just a miss in not reading what is said as this has nothing to do with SATA or whatever. This is clearly an issue and more is a CONFIRMED issue by Apple.

Has anyone had any luck with Apple replacing or fixing or doing SOMETHING if you take a DL adaptor back to a shop?
