12% of home market share, whereas other INFERIOR PC makers just lose participation? There is only one statement to be made:

MS IS DEAD. DELL IS DEAD.

Go eat some crow, MS fanboys.

Yeah, 12% of the US home marketshare.....wow, MS is really running scared. LOL

Seriously funny post. Would read again.

Not this one, even though we're Canadians. When we got the iMac one and a half years ago we got rid of the HP and have never looked back. And even though my family is certainly not "affluent," we invested in Apple products. WhiteBook, Unibody MacBook, iPod, Airport, etc. No need for Windows-based PCs here. =)

I bought a macbook, and for the last two years have been switching over. At first, I kept a bunch on my pc, but as I go along I have been moving it to the macbook. My p4 2.54 XP system now only has two uses, Copying DVD's (mac decryption software simply is not as good as a pc software right now, and 5.25 dvd drives are much cheaper to replace than a laptop superdrive) and as a Bittorrent station to seed some auto racing torrents.

Everything else has switched over to the macbook. My next computer will also be a mac, at some point I hope to be able to shift those last two functions to a future Mac and throw the PC in the trash.

its a shame that some people will use this as a rally call to pronounce how they will never use a windows box etc.. I could care less, just interesting to know that all the talk on this forum obviously doesn't represent the entire demographic.

Why not just clone your pc's MAC address on a router and be done with it?

Someday when you're paying your utilities bill, the $6-13/month you're paying to leave that PC on all day will be much better spent elsewhere. If you ARE paying your electric bill, measure your PC's power consumption and do the math.

I love pcs

why the hate over pcs?!

It's like there are fanboys here

Thank u

I'm amazed that apple fanboys believe they are superior to all

Not true. I'm 33, married, kid, dogs, mortgage, and two car payments and I have two computers that stay on 24/7/365.

What?! You mean MacRumors.com isn't a scientific sampling of Mac users??? That merely the fact that they know this site exists and participate in its forums mean that they're probably Mac zealots and as such probably cannot offer an objective comment on too much of anything? Say it's not so!

So, where do my 4 DVRs running forms of Linux fall? What about the Mac clone? What about dead machines that I haven't fixed/tossed, yet? Since the iPod Touch's processor is technically more powerful than 4 of my computers, is it a "computer" or "Mac" in this case, or just under the IPT category?

I guess I have everything but the "navigation", which I assume means GPS. It's ironic since my 2nd job is all driving. But knowing what I know from my coworkers, I just haven't found it worth the cash. One guy even quit using his, the paper book is better more often. And frankly, after driving this much, about 1/4 of the time I don't even look at a map.

No, they believe their OS is superior to all. Because it is.

I see far more Windows fanboys who equate themselves with their computer. It's weird.

You've just proven his point :D. It's not 'their' OS anyway, it's Apple's OS. Maybe this is why the defensive attitude because they see it as something that belongs to them?

My house has 7 computers in it, 8 soon, and I own all except one. So, yes, I also have other computers that aren't Macs :D

If I'm honest, though, I wouldn't have a single PC if I wasen't a collector, and the iMac and MacBook are certainly the main computers in the house. I just use the PCs for mucking around, M$ Office, etc.

The study also notes that Apple households tend to be more affluent than average computer households,

Because Apple's poor desktop lineup is far from appealing in terms of value?

and Apple owners also tend to own more consumer electronics devices (and twice as many of them) than the average computer-owning household.

Erhm... in the afterlight of Apple's 'green' decisions as of late. Interesting, do these households dispose of said devices correctly as well as using green electricity powering them?

well looks like yet another worthless survay done so Apple Fan boys point to when they say how much better macs are.

Lets see how worthless it really is....

We are at a point in time where homes are on there 3rd-4th computers and that last one is still very useful for basic web surfing and it dates back to early days or OSX so of course when it is replaced it still will be usable.

Also add in the fact Macs cost hell of a lot more than PC just to enter in to that market means who ever can afford a mac is going to have more income which means they are going ot have more expensive toys.

So all it goes to show us is Mac users are very elitist snobs.

I agree with you that the trend is those who can afford Macs have the income to afford other gadgets as well. I also think people who are buying Macs are more into consumer electronics on average, hence all the extra gadgets. Though this really doesn't tell me much of anything beyond the obvious.

Elitist snobs...don't act like people are snobs just because they have money to spend. That's not your problem. There are also plenty of people who choose to buy these products even on a tight income because they value quality electronics, and that usually comes with a price (I'm not talking exclusively Macs here).

I don't get what the issue is...its like polling people who own ferrari's, my bet is they have a lot of other expensive toys laying around.

The word "PC" is annoying.

"PC" is an acronym that means "personal computer." It was coined years back when the term "personal" was necessary to distinguish it from large workstations and mainframes, since that's what computers used to be...extremely expensive scientific tools and nothing more. Very few households had Cray IIs in their living rooms. ;) Hence, "personal."

A Mac is also a "personal computer," so technically "Personal Computer vs. Mac" makes no sense. "PC" also makes no grammatical sense. "Need a new Personal Computer? See how Windows 9000 makes your Personal Computer fun!" or, "How much RAM do you have in your Personal Computer?" The more you say it like that, the more it begins to sound like a quaint '70s or '80s term, which it is.

I say "Windows computer" or "Windows system" when specifically referring to a "PC." When specifically referring to a Mac, I call it a Mac. Otherwise, I just say "computer."

Wrong: I'm a PC gamer.
Correct: I'm a computer gamer.
Wrong: I typed this up on my MacBook Pro yesterday while at Starbucks.
Correct: I had my laptop with me yesterday and typed this up.

:)

I must disagree on that one! If you have a MacBook, or any Apple product, you want people to know you have one, which is why iPhones have the "Sent from my iPhone" thing.

At least, that's me anyway :p
