Good God, a disgusting display of wealth is all I have to say. Capitalism at its finest. But I guess Nvidia is busy building the replacement for human jobs, which will be interesting when it comes to taxation and millions unemployed.

The AI boon will soon be stopped once government comes stuck in now to raise money to run their countries, IMO.

“…Nvidia begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m. Eastern time, August 29th. In a panic, they try to pull the plug…”.

Did you see the article of them running deep mind on a Mac Studio? (M3 I think the ones with connected chips). With max out ram, which seems like a good move now running these LLM need VIDEO ram and Macs shared memory counts.

Maybe with the M5 Studio they will be able to run open AI? I can see Apple becoming strong hardware wise, since it runs at 200w currently compared to Nvidia's upcoming 6KW per rack? (not a even comparison I know)

I can't compare the speeds between the two please someone fill me in where I've lost sight. Another good thing is you can run this at home on apple hardware for private results and not send it off to a server.

Nothing to be proud of, Nvidia is milking the hell out of the consumer GPU's with ridiculously overpriced cards that should be around half of what they are.
So Apple’s egregious pricing on RAM and SSD upgrades, and tiers in products, not to mention poor quality accessories (fine woven, fraying silicone iPhone cases) at high markups is ethical business? Customer hostile practices is how these corporations get to where they are.  became the first trillion dollar company for a good reason. The perfect hypocrite was at the helm to see it through as well.

I'd like to know how you arrived at that price metric. In a capitalist society, everything is priced to market: ie what the market is willing to pay. And so far, the market is more than willing to pay Nvidia's prices, probably more. I bet you think sports celebs are paid more than they're worth, too. Nope.

At this point, it's pretty much settled. AI is the future of all things tech. And Apple is late out the gate. In fact, I don't think they've opened the gate yet. From what I read these days, it's been their insistence on developing an in-house proprietary model that's caused this lag. And in today's news on CNBC, it was reported that Apple is looking at partnering with OpenAI or Anthropic. And I'd bet that someone at Apple is getting axed for leaking that, too!

Scott Forstall was fired because Jony Ive couldn't stand working with him and Ive was the biggest rockstar the company couldn't afford to lose immediately following Jobs' death. In 2012, Cook would have been nuts to pick Forstall over Ive. There's a reason Forstall never found notable employment in tech again after Apple and now produces Broadway musicals.
To be fair, Scott was a part of an era of Apple that no other tech company could have offered a compelling step into at the time of his departure. Having people fight it out internally was a part of what produced people’s best work. Scott sure as hell didn’t need the money. At that time frame you had Bertrand Serlet in charge of the Mac team (Snow Leopard), and Forstall leading iOS into existence. No small feat. What you ended up with is Federighi in charge as a marketing yes man and the meme that is Apple’s software quality today. The visual vomit that was iOS 7 and now the Liquid Glass vs Frosted Plastic debate depending on which beta you are on, can be accredited to Ives and no one being able to tell him no. It’s the path forged by Cook. Just look at Music on the Mac. Think back to iTunes and the iPod. How does this happen? Exactly as you described. Letting a narcissistic ego inflated hardware design chief make software, and a spreadsheet whore with no idea what makes a great product what it is, calling the shots. Just look at Cook with MKBHD on the Magic Mouse and you see how clueless and out of touch Cook really is with his company’s own products.

I’ll take having teams that hate each other but produce their best work out of a common passion, than some of the junk we have now any day.

Because Apple's pricing is reasonable..?!
Apple has nothing to be proud off either when it comes to RAM or SSD upgrades during the order process, those are disgustingly obscene.

On the MacBook Pro Apple want +£400 to go from 1TB to 2TB, are you bloody joking!, I can pick up a Crucial 2TB 14.5GB/s Gen 5 NVMe for £159 or 4TB version for £339. Apple's prices are bloody criminal, want a 4TB Apple SSD, that's just a £1000 extra or £2200 for 8TB 😄. I can get an 8TB Gen 4 WD 8TB on offer for just £493.

Or +£200 to go from 24GB RAM to 32GB, £200 for a measly 8GB!

Jobs made Forstall and Ive work. The fact that Tim couldn't says a lot.

I believe it has more to do with the maps fiasco.

Apple probably will not reach a $4T market cap anytime soon. Mr. Cook has been a great custodian and COO, but he lacks the product vision and charisma of his former boss. The fact that he failed to present and execute any coherent AI vision for his company is one of the key reasons Apple's market cap lags behind NVDA and MS.

Tell us you don't have any money to invest, without telling us you don't have any money to invest.
I believe that's kind of their point, people born into hardship suffer and have an incredibly hard time just making ends meet, while those born with money can reliably grow their wealth with fairly minimal risk. The stock market is just gambling, and only those who already have money can really afford to gamble.
