First, that is my favorite reply all day. Freakin' hilarious "..last known living photograph..."

Second, one doesn't just have a prototype tablet made to show around. Especially one that is so thin and polished (the overall tablet, not the glossy finish). It takes untold months of work and loads of cash. Why would NVIDIA expend such resources to show off their secondary chipsets, etc? This has to be a product headed for the market. Now, that said, I will be shocked if it is from Apple (see above quote from TheSlush).

Reports just in Jen has accidentally fallen out of a 19th story building and under a cement truck with his prototype, his remains have disappeared down a drain and out to sea.......... and eaten by seagulls nothing remains....

I dunno, to me that has Apple written all over it. A single button at the bottom, looks like there is a cam on the top, looks suspiciously like the 'allegedly leaked' mockups of what the iTablet is supposed to look like...... I'm 'choosing' to believe this is indeed an Apple prototype and NVIDIA are just covering themselves because they've accidentally allowed it to be photographed in the wild

I want one! :)

This could very well be true.

Remember when AT&T said the "iPhone Black" options on thier site were just their system for organising the current iPhones?

No one is gonna admit the truth are they?

That's Not a MacBook Tablet...

Now that's Huang's Tablet!

If its a tegra product they are shopping around then it's the full chipset centred around a system on a chip, well that is to say is an nVidia GPU with a couple of ARM core strapped to handle the other stuff.

Shoot, I would hope something like that wouldn't come out of our camp lol. That thing is far from sleek and beautiful, contrary to what some other posters seem to be seeing. It is sooo.. not compact either. If the Apple tablet looks even remotely like that, it could have the ability to fly to me if I left it at home and I still wouldn't buy it. Lol, ok maybe I would, but I would only be 50% happy. :D

Yeah but that thing looks huge. I might as well keep my laptop if that is what is going to be released. The touch factor doesn't boost my desire too much if the thing is so big. I'm not even saying it HAS to be pocketable but it definitely needs to be smaller than that.

"Huge, huge huge "

That's all I'm seeing from you folks. Perspective. Yes you've heard of it. Things closer to camera appear bigger and all that.

It could be only 5 inches wide, hard to say, given that the photo seems to be taken with a fish-eye lens.

I'm betting on A4 size, which is pretty much what you need to show almost any PDF native size.

Makes sense since latest rumours report that the tablet will also be fighting against the ebook readers.

"an update to the article has confirmed that the device is simply a prototype tablet developed by NVIDIA to pitch to potential partners."

So why is this news?

I know, totally.. There is a tablet in the picture, but that asian guy is not Steve Jobs!! He's not even Phil Schiller! In fact, I don't think there is any fairy dust in his pocket, either.

Wow, now is so much clear!

based on the 2bottles x 1 bottle measures, it's a 16:9 inch

:p

Too big. I wouldn't spend my money on it.

Too small, I wouldn't spend my money on it :p

Personally, having a tablet to replace my college notebook would be pretty cool - at the same time, methinks I would be looking at more of a modbook in this respect; the tablet in the photograph is pushing the limit to how small I could work with, and at the same time, it could be optical distortion as well.

I am really struggling to see the benefits behind a tablet device.

While I disdain digital media when I could have it on paper, the form factor of my notes in comparison to their form factor in digital storage is a major plus - in fact, I'm pretty sure that if I got a tablet, all that I would be doing with it would be note-taking or old-school arithmetic (i.e., not a calculator program). But then again, only if it has a big enough screen, which in the end might not happen.

Keeping perspective in mind it looks like a 10" screen. The bottle is quite small with an assumed volume of 0,33 liter. The photo was taken less then one feet above the desk. You can see that looking straight in the centre of the picture it is has no angle up or down and the Spokesman's Head is above the centre. So anyone who claims the shown "whatever" is to big is wrong. I think its not thicker than an openend MacbookPro too.

how about this......why are you on this forum?

why do you think someone with "demi-god" status on these forums are... on these forums? Ask yourself that question, and then ask yourself that question again... Think it over before responding.

The tablet looks cool, but seems too large to really be portable while at that size it can't contain much in the way of serious processing power... I'm having trouble finding this products use - for me anyways. I'd be impressed if my doctor walked into the office wielding one of these bad boys.

It looks like 10" in height perhaps, but about 16" in width, which is a pretty sizable piece of hardware intended for "tablet" like use. Of course it's all pure speculation but it just seems rather unwieldy for a tablet - I always imagine holding a tablet in one hand like a clip board and writing with the other hand.

Turn me on Dead Man...

don't give me cr*p for taking/wasting the time to do this, but if it weren't for the fact that photoshop was already up and running, i probably wouldnt have bothered...

nvidia_tablet.jpg

admittedly, when i was younger i did play led zeppelin and beatles songs backwards to listen to the alleged backwards masked recordings, and then would debate with friends over what was found...

so i couldnt resist... i wanted to know what was on the tablet.
adjusting levels etc in photoshop, i see a black-haired guy in a white tee working a pallet-jack down a warehouse aisle...

soooo...
is that an apple logo printed on the side of the box in the lower left corner...?

does apple even make use of a box with a large logo printed on the side like that?

what conclusions, if any, could be made if it was deemed to be an apple box?

what's the nature of the conversation in dubai that brings about nvidia's ceo to show images on a fancy new tablet of a warehouse worker?

does anyone recognize the unique forward edge and legs of the shelving as being unique to, or more commonly found in the warehouses of a particular country? ...or perhaps of a particular company? does anyone have pictures of the internals of any of apple's or nvidia's warehouses?

(and if you play the image backwards, i swear you can see steve jobs sitting on a grassy knoll!)

if it's an apple tablet, would i get one..? yeah, why not, a new toy.
do i really need it or would i use it alot..? no, but i'm sure others do and would.
