Nvidia today announced the launch of a new "Ultimate" tier for the GeForce NOW cloud gaming service, providing up to 240 fps gaming with servers powered by the GeForce RTX 4080.

The Ultimate tier is priced at $20 per month (or $100 for six months), the same price as the prior plan that allowed gamers to access the GeForce RTX 3080. Full ray tracing and DLSS 3 frame multiplying technology will be available, and Nvidia is introducing Reflex support for reduced latency for those who have a G Sync display. With Nvidia Reflex, GeForce NOW can provide click-to-pixel latency below 40 milliseconds.

Nvidia says that the GeForce NOW RTX 4080 SuperPODs will provide more than 64 teraflops of graphics horsepower to an individual user, which is 5x more than the Xbox Series X. Nvidia is introducing support for ultrawide resolutions, allowing 4K display owners to play games at up to 120 frames per second. GeForce Now users who subscribed to the RTX 3080 tier will be migrated to the Ultimate tier automatically in the first quarter of 2023.

The GeForce RTX 4080 is one of the most powerful GPUs available for purchase, but the $1,200 price makes it inaccessible for many. The GeForce NOW streaming service will allow those who are willing to pay the monthly access fee to play games using servers equipped with the GPU. GeForce NOW includes more than 1,500 game titles, and it is available on Apple's Macs.

This is a great option for those who can't afford a Gaming PC or just decide to put their money into the Apple Ecosystem instead. Until developers start using the hardware in today's Macs for AAA games, GeForce Now is an amazing alternative. I've tried the 3080 tier and it is a very solid service.

GeForce NOW is incredible and an absolute steal. The money you save on electricity is probably way more than what a subscription costs. And no need for maintaining an OS, repairing/upgrading any hardware and no massive update downloads.

I’m living a computerless live but will probably get an Nvidia Shield for GeForce NOW only.

I've had GeForce NOW for the last 3 years via my Mac airplayed to my LG TV with an XBox wireless controller and it works great. I'm on the founder $5/month lowest tier graphically though but it still looks amazing.. I just wish my LGCX supported native Geforce app like the C1... or in a perfect would if the Apple TV would allow it. I'm sure I lose something playing via airplay but hey I made it through Witcher 3 and cyberpunk with it either way.

$1,200 GPU is inaccessible for many, but a $1,200 iPhone is not? 🤷‍♂️

Nvidia needs to offer an interest-free monthly payment plan like Apple does for the iPhone.

I've had GeForce Now since the beginning when it had SO many titles (think Dishonored, Dishonored 2, etc.). A lot has been removed since its inception. It's not bad, but if you're really into gaming on your mac, Shadow Cloud Computing is the way to go. It isn't cheap, but if it's your thing and you love it, you can game COMPLETELY on your mac; it's pretty amazing. My build is around $47/mo. I know I could build/buy a PC for less over time, but I don't care. I can play via Shadow on my Studio, my M1 Max, whatever, wherever.

Can a game such as COD:Warzone be played on there without running into anti-cheat problems? I know that's been an issue with some game streaming services in the past.

I don't know but it's just a PC in the cloud so I'm not sure it behaves any different to a gaming service than a PC on your desk.

portability, multi-functionality on the go, camera, phone, power handheld computer. GPU--dumb device w/o a computer.

I feel like this will use a ton of memory and ram or is this not the case? (Want to use this to play cities skylines but both my MBA and iMac memory is nearly full 😅)

I have an Xbox Series X and enjoy it as a Blu Ray player too. I like to collect movies and games on disc, but only really stand out titles. I also bought a PS3 after waiting 15 years. PS3 games are so dirt cheap now I collected all the classics before they are lost in time like tears in the rain.

I wish I can access RTX 4090 on Mac for AI and 3D stuff as Mac's GPU is so slow to use and work with...

Have been playing games on my M1 Air with GeForce Now and it was slow and clunky. Installed Parallels and Windows 11 a few weeks ago and is way faster and easier. No way I am going back to GeForce Now. Can't recommend Parallels enough.

I'm the opposite. I have a PS5 with the disc drive and a couple games with the disc but I'd love to throw them out and now ONLY buy downloadable. I don't have any need for the additional clutter around the house and don't want to store them. Internet connection is 100Gbit, so I can download any game in a couple seconds. Wish there was an option to trade your disc games for download versions (hate having to put a disc in to play those ones, when it's just verifying the fact you have the disc, while playing everything off the internal SSD).

geforce now would be awesome if the game selection wasn't so limited. building a gaming pc and using moonlight or steam link to stream to mac/ios is totally amazing.

(assuming you have the bandwidth)

I've been happy with my GeForce Now "Ultimate" subscription. Happy it is going to get upgraded at no additional cost. The only complaint I have is out of my 1504 steam games (mostly indie titles) only 248 are supported. 😔

I don't know why there isn't better support. I wish it was like the steam deck that allows you to play it... just maybe not a perfect experience. I understand it has to have cloud saving and all that to work but still.
