Whatever you think, with the price of Nvidia cards right now, that's a ballsy move tearing down not one, but two 5090's!
[...] he is not only being brave enough to dissemble one 5090, but two
The horrendous scenario did happen — not a 5090 but still. 😟 😯

Spoiler: I can understand accidentally melting things when dealing with solder connections. Drilling holes!? How does one come to such a conclusion?

By the way, I do partially blame influencer enthusiasts for this scenario. The implication components shouldn’t be hotter than ~50% of their rated max operating temp and, therefore, setups like (premium) liquid cooling are necessary or even affect performance noticeably. In other words, being an enthusiast is fine, but it needs proper context and facts, proper information, regularly noted.

I had rolled back from the problem driver, cannot remember what version that was. I did notice my computer was running hotter on the CPU and dropped about 10 degrees when I rolled back the driver. Usually sitting at around 55 C average. Was at 65 C average with the bad driver.

It's lame anyway. It's going to take away from the style of the games it is trying to help. I certainly won't use it.
Yeah my post "was in haste", lol. I dunno if this preview, and the accompanying backlash, is going to cause them to drop it like the 4080 12GB (or even Reflex 2). Initially it seemed like they are just changing the lighting, but reading the press release does mention material replacement. These quick cuts are not helping settle the how does this look in motion either. Even the shot DF took/show don't seem long enough to get a good sense how how it holds up. Daniel Owen sayst his probably should be a filter, not a part of DLSS (though you could make the same argument with FG, and RR).

they need to give to ai, so that ai can buy more NVIDIA cards.
DLSS isn't used for AI processing, but I think you're close.

with DLSS 5.0 you will need a more capable card, so DLSS 5 is the sledgehammer to bludgeon consumers to upgrade their cards,.

I like this YT channel and it offers a balance perspective and they're applied this to DLSS 5

Edit: I just finished the video, and it seems that when nvidia/digital foundry was showing off this tech it required a second 5090 to run it. So my initial assessment is that this is a product to push consumers to replace/buy high end GPU is definitely the case, and secondly its far from being ready. Evidently Nvidia already stated it will only require one GPU when its rolled out

As someone who generally relies on lower end GPUs, its going to be a non-issue for me, now and the foreseeable future.

It is an early preview that they probably shouldn't have shown, lol. Gamers Nexus pointed out that they did a pretty good job of not showing us a lot of motion and in the clips where they did you can find temporal artifacts/instability.

Definitely, but I guess with no hardware announcements they wanted to stay relevent in and in the news, so why not roll out the new version of DLSS even if its not ready for prime time.

I like what the belluar news YT I linked to had to say. This isn't just a filter slapped over faces, it changes the lighting and ambiance.

Overall, though its probably much ado about nothing - at least for the games I play using the GPUs I typically have, that is I don't have worry about something that will require a 5090 or a 6090 (when it comes out) GPU
