Well I am not so obsessed with the information being completetly up to date. My original purpose of this project was to find a cheaper 3rd party NVMe that would perform at least as well as the Apple 2015 drives. Not found a one yet! There are a lot of 13" and 15" wanting a storage upgrade and what is the best choice besides very expensive original Apple SSDs. I think the option would be great if you can save $$ and still benefit from the SSD speed these are capable of. When Hope to get my hands on a Samsung EVO 960 soon to test! Regarding MacBook Air, you can with this adapter get much better speeds than the 128gb at half the price of buying a used SSD on ebay.

OK. The 960 is a great drive. We use them and the 960 Pros in several deskside systems. Very fast. I have a couple in the machine I am using now.
My operating mode with the MacBook Pro since the retina days, and really any modern notebook, is to treat it as a non upgradable machine. And buy the configuration you anticipate needing for 3 years or so.
Samsung 960's work just fine, just be careful not to upgrade to the latest firmware, it's been causing horrible issues for some people on the PC side.
How is the battery life on the Intel 600p?

I have yet to test this. I am not sure if I can relate to tests done on Windows laptops regarding NVMe drives. Please post some of the links regarding battery life. That would be interesting. Would be nice to set up an overview speed vs. battery life etc.

Thanks. Read that thread now. interesting to read different experience. I had the issue with reboot on different NVMe, WD Black etc. Thought it was the WD Black but got the same issue with Intel P600. On a 2013 Air, after I close the lid (overnight) and open it I get 3 reboots. After I reset SMC I have not been able to reproduce the issue. Hope it stays that way.
I should be able to pick up the 600p today and test it in my Air.
In the other thread, people have said there is no problem with WD Black and Intel 600p if hibernation is disabled. I don't usually use hibernation so I hope I don't have the reboot issue.
Which firmware is the 600p running? I see that 121c is the latest according to the Intel website.
Not sure I want to disable hibernation. I got a OS X 10.13.2 extra update today. Will test if that helps. Not sure what firmware I have on the 600P. It says: Version: J25473-101, Mfg date: 12JAN2017. I guess I would need a PC to update the firmware?

I ordered a PCIe NVMe adapter now for my (old) Windows PC. When I get it I can check the firmware and maybe update.
