O god... AT&T. Changing Data plans again...

http://forums.appleinsider.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=117877

AT&T is changing the data plan on Feb 13th for existing and new customers who want to tether their smart phones.

1. Data Pro=2GB for 25 dollars. 10 dollars additional charge per GB (Stays Same)
2. Data Pro + tethering = 2GB for 45 dollars will be axed.
3. 4GB data plan= The user will pay 45 dollars a month and get 4GB data per months and they will be able to use it anyway they want. They can tether or use it on their smart phones.

Better than what they had before, but it still sucks.

The first smartphone will be eligible for this plan is HTC inspire 4G, but you can safely assume iPhone 4 users will be eligible when apple releases iOS 4.3 on iOS devices.

This is in preparation for att's new 3.5G HSPA+ service which is launching soon but they are calling it 4G LOL

Grandfathered unlimited plans are toast

I've had great service and an unlimited plan for years. There is no reason to change it now. AT&T has done a great job giving me early upgrade exemptions. As long as I keep getting a new iPhone each year for the upgrade price I'm very happy.

I don't have any feedback on Verizon yet as I have only had my Droid X for four months. Everything is fine, but that is too short of a time to tell about customer service.

How about roll over data? If I pay for 2GB / 4GB per month and don't use it...I say either refund the difference or roll it over to a new month.

User 1. Has new plan and uses 4GB on January and February (8GB total over 60 days)...pays $90

User 2. Same plan; uses 300MB in January and 4.1GB in February...pays $100 (4.4 GB over 60 days).

Seems like legalized robbery to me!

here in Toronto all the carriers charge approx the same (just like the gas companies all charge the same price at the pumps)

the largest plans are @ $50 for 5GB ... the days of cheap or competitive data plans are over.
