they could not understand that the icon was there telling me i had a connection but couldnt connect... is this what everyone else has?

Yep, exactly the same with mine, though I haven't had any major issues for the last few days.

well since i have reset the settings on it i havent either... whether it was the phone or them im not sure... seems to work fine at the moment.... for now....

Resetting the service provider and restoring the phone did not fix mine at the time, though like I say it has been fine for the last couple of days.

I suspect O2 have simply fixed what was knackered on their gateway.
