Still waiting for my phone call to go and get MY 3G!!!!!:mad::mad:

Did anyone order from CPW today and get told their phone will be delivered 14th July (Monday)

What do you think the chances are of this happening?

Yup told exactley that. The order has been placed and I have a receipt in my hand which clearly states for delivery Monday :D

Keeping everything crossed

I'm hoping, the manager who served me said it is probably going to be later than Monday due to supplys, I don't know whether he was saying that just in case and to stop me going back if it wasn't delivered Monday. I have asked for it to be delivered to store.

Monday would tie in with the website delivery service where if you ordered it this morning off the website, when they were still in stock, it would be delivered to store Monday, so we may be in luck.

When I started the order at about 8am the systems crashed so I has to go back at about 12pm to complete the order, really good customer service from the manager as he had put my name down and ordered a phone for me to secure me one and it was lucky as they are now out of stock online.

Well just when you thought YOU had it bad .. listen to my tale of woe ... please sit down and make a stiff drink aforehand, mind ...

In Derby it was just as bad. One O2 store with about 40 outside .. the other with about 30 .. both CPWs only about 6 outside. So I joined that one for a new contract. Bad move. I was FOURTH in line and lost out to the last 16gb to get sold. Yup they had three. THEN I was told it would DEFF come tomorrow am. To the store for collection. I then waited for a credit check for 90 mins after being told they had no stock in their warehouse!!!! What a company. So I then used THEIR laptop to buy one ONLINE on the CPW site!. Thats the good news. Now its only at Stage Two and cannot be traced by the CPW desks in the stores. I just rang em and they said demand is so high processing is taking longer. Amazing. THEN to rub further salt in the wound the Derby Westfield lot told me that now there WAS stock in their warehouse. I said its too late - already ordered online. I hope. Finally .. the ultimate insult .. went into the O2 shop and they said theyd one unclaimed 16gb unit. But it was too late. Id given my PAC code and all my details online. What a farce. So now I have no idea if its coming tomorrow at all. O2 always have been the epitome of incompetence and yet they STILL use them. TMobile would never have allowed this to happen. Maybe I shouldve stuck with them and the upcoming Vario IV. At least you get service there. So now am in limbo. Will it come tomorrow?. Somehow I dont think so. And if not ...how DO I cancel it! Because its not even officiall recognised yet! Ridiculous. Only in the UK eh? And why? Cos we're a nation of whingers ... not complainers ... so we get what we get cos we deserve it! Aye weel!

Next: Well it gets worse. The guy from the CPW shop in Derby rings to say my 16gb online order is received and being sorted out ... for a Tuesday!!!! delivery. Great. So THEN I get a email seconds after saying .. Out Of Stock!. Jesus!. Can I cancel this order what? There is no relevant box in the order confirmation to do this .. and what if youve passed em your PAC code etc? This is most odd! And most annoying!

And finally, Esther:t got WORSE!!!! Just rang order team to find out what is happening! Unbelievably again ... she says this:

Thank you for ordering with www.carphonewarehouse.com.

We have now processed it through our secure systems, but are unable to despatch the item to you for security reasons. This order has now been cancelled.

If you still wish to make a purchase please call 0870 087 0870.

And thats the email quotation .. in other words my card details were not accepted because of the self imposed cockups in processing .. BY THEM!!!!

So now no phone no order ... and a day wasted. Bollocks. Might as well stick with TMobile and forget the iPhone. At least Ill be able to make calls!

Cheers for nowt O2/CPW! Who else could .. .

Say theyre open at 7.02 initially then 9am then open at 8 02
Supply THREE 16gb phones for the total Derby populace
Take your order for next day delivery
Take 90 mins to do it then find out no stock
Allow you to order a iPhone online with THEIR PC
Get email confirmation and text backup to confirm above
Say that processing may take longer than normal
A manager rings to say all going fine
Ring up CPW orders team to find out its not happening
Agreement is fully cancelled. No deal mate. Sorry!.

Tey say their order team are gonna ring me later to help me reorder.
Guess what? They havent ... fancy that!

in retrospect this may not be a bad thing. O2 cant run a bath. Let alone an Apple sponsored event. They are all over the place and fully unaccountable for their incompetence. Is this the kind of folks you want running a 3G connection, calls and worse - bills? Best I stay with TMobile and rough it with a HTC Raphael/Vario IV.

When Apple organise .. they organise. Sorted. Palm out to a crap company like O2/CPW ... it all goes heavenwards ...

STEVE JOBS!!!! Are you listening? Is it just me or is there a trend here ?

2007 IPhone Mk 1 Launch ... Cock Up
2008 IPhone 3G Launch .. Biggest EVER Cock Up
Common Factor ... O2

Other countries in similar mess ... NONE .... Work out the weakest link

Moral of the tale?. Either wait. Or dont bother. Suppose Ive saved £800 over 18 months but what a cock up . We really ARE a nation of zero vision.

Ta ra!

Well, I managed to get my 16gb iPhone.

It doesn't actually make calls yet... or pick up signal... BECAUSE O2 STILL HAVEN'T RUNG ME!

If the systems are back up, why can't they get on there and sort my phone number out! Are they even going to do it today?

So yep, I'm sitting here waiting for my phone number and SIM card to work - waiting for a phone call.

What a shambles!!

A mixed experience at my local O2 shop.

Only had 13 iPhones in stock - only 3 of those were 16Gb (I was fortunate to be 3rd in the queue :D) For a fairly large store I thought this wis a pitiful amount - plenty of people turned away.

O2 systems were down before we stepped foot in the store at 9.

Credit to the manager who took swift control and ordered staff to complete paperwork only, with a view to clearing the backlog when (if) the systems return.

Still, it took easily 20 minutes per customer and by only processing 2 people at a time those at the back of the queue were in for a very long wait.

I was told by an O2 rep that it was all apples fault and that they had limited communication and very few phones delivered, they went in this morning and did the stock count and then came out and shouted to the line about the limits. Thankfully i got the very last 16 gig

FYI, I've had my store ring me and they've said it could now take up to 24 hours for the contract to be activated. Which is a bit of a pain really.

If you could tidy up that, it would undeniably be worthy of some special customer services treatment - or make a great example for any of the gadget magazines. might get some financial compensation through teh story hehe.

I'm sure at the least you coudl get some of these mythical "O2 treats"...

I've just put in my SIM (that i've been using in old iPhone on a none o2 iphone contract), although I can't sync or connect via iTunes, after leaving it, the home screen has just appeared and the phone is fully functional (firmware 2.0).

My existing contract is due to end next month with 02. I was hoping that I could just register the new iPhone with my old number and everything will transfer over. Will this work?

i'm still fiddling with my GPS enabled ipod touch waiting for O2 to process my written contract....
we should start some sort of petition and get O2 to reimburse us for our "misery" today..... i'm thinking some sort of free gift would do nicely, a 3G iPhone dock perhaps....

I've rang my O2 shop, apparently, but it sounds logical,

O2 have told all stores to continute taking paper orders if they have any stock left for the rest of today and not use the computers under any circumstance until 9am tomorrow when the systems SHOULD be back up.

Though he said he couldn't promise anything he hoped that all of the contracts signed up today would be active by 5:30pm tomorrow.

This is Leamington Spa I'm talking about but it sounds reasonable to me.

For now I can cope, I've synced and have my apps installed so my GPS touch will carry me over with wifi until tomorrow!!

My 2p from Leeds. I have two small children to manage so queuing early in the morning was not an option. I wandered into the o2 shop in Leeds (the one opposite boots the chemist) at about 10.30 with youngest in tow expecting just to find out about deliveries. Only one other customer in there.

I was surprised to find that they had 8gb's in stock and despite the fact that I'd rather have a 16gb I decided to upgrade as I couldn't wait (I can always take the old one along with me). I filled in the paper work and was out in about 15 minutes. Two other people came in after me also to upgrade and also decided to go with 8gb's even though they were more interested in 16gb.

The staff all looked harrowed. The guy who served me tried his best, even chatting to my 13month old, but could barely raise a smile.

I was in the Apple Store in Manchester Arndale about 5pm... could see that they were having "issues" with activating the iPhones - all the pages were displaying "Service not available"... It made me smile when I realised that they were having to do the activation through Internet Explorer 7 using Parallels/VMWare :)

What a most excellent idea! Even though Im no O2 user (and dont look like I will be now after this caper) then it is surely my duty to inform the great British public of just how good our O2 ... See What We Can't Do "Team" are doing for Mr Jobs...

My Son Wanted A Cowboy Outfit For Xmas - I Bought Them Carphone Warehouse!

Think GQ/Stuff/Nuts/FHM etc for the competition letter of the month also.

Wow, it still didn't get fixed then? I was there at 9AM and left with a fully activated 16GB White around 1PM  They seemed to be down from 10-12, then when i was doing mine, they seemed to be working again...guess not.

The icing on the cake!!

My 1st post here, so hi :D

I was 1st in line at the Amersham CPW for 07:30. Funny thing was that I was not the 1st there, other people were stalking around the immediate area with dark shades and upturned collars to embarrassed to be 1st in line :D

When the doors opened we were asked to form two queues, one for pre-orders and the other for people who had simply turned up...I was under the impression there werent any pre-orders

All the 16GB's that had been delivered had been pre-ordered so I had waiting at the store for no reason other than being able to reserve a 16GB for Mondays delivery . The store also suffered the same problems as everyone else, our orders were placed but could not be completed due to being unable to access the credit check system. Just got back from signing the completed order forms after the staff called me to let me know it was ready.

I have to say that the CPW staff handled the pressure as well as can be expected, the only exception was allowing a woman who had far to much gob to jump the queue.

My experience of O2 is not a good one, especially after Mondays web disater and todays shamble. It is only my drive to purchase an excellant product that has ensured I have persisted this far.

I dont bloody believe it, just had a call from CPW to say my iphone will not be delivered today as there has been a logistics / stock allocation error in the warehouse! They can't even promise me I will get it this week.

I am seriously F***ed off now. Have said I expect some kind of compensation / good will gesture and suggested they give me the £45 tariff deal for £10 less per month, they will get back to me!
