Quick question to everyone with bad battery life..

Did you upgrade to GM or restore to GM. I upgraded, and I'm losing about 1% every 1-2 minutes on wifi. 1% every 5 minutes on stand by with no apps open.

I had to charge my phone twice yesterday it was so horrible.

Plan on restoring it tonight.

I've been restoring since iPhone OS 1. Not about to stop now.

Did you use your phone for 4 hours hours straight, or was it draining while you had it in standby?

To be honest. I can only guess and go with what the OS says. That I was using it the entire time.

Can someone check if the timezone bug is still there? In iOS 5.1.1 if you have timezone setting enabled in the system location settings, the purple arrow is on indefinately like its using your GPS all the time. After turning that off people reported good battery life. Also take a look at your push notifications. Even if it isnt in the notification center but you have it set to give you badges, it will still count as a push notification. 50 Apps with badges = 50 push notifications along with your regular stuff. Try ironing that out and only leave the apps you really need to have badges and stuff. Another psuedo effect could be using the phone too much when you buy it new. Or its downloading something like itunes match, or backing up to icloud even though it isnt plugged in or on wifi. These things come to mind to me for people with bad battery life.

My battery is [messed] up after upgrading to GM. I was in class for 3 hours never used it during that time and all the apps were closed. Battery drained after 3 hours. Any suggestions ? I am thinking of downgrading to iOS 5 :(

Clearly this is not normal and your phone should work better. I would try again and restore the phone to iOS 6. Its probably just some quirk.

I just noticed I'm at 7% and i've barely used my phone all day. In fact a few minutes after I unplugged it this morning I noticed it was at like 93% but I didn't think anything of it. Something is seriously wrong here...

I had massive battery problems during the betas but in GM after a clean Itunes Restore, its the same awesome longevity as 5.1.1.

is this bad? it made it thru the whole day but this is almost like the minimal usage.

Here's another screenshot. It's my 1st full battery cycle under iOS6GM.
I'm giving it another run, by turning the 3G off and enabling it when I need it - connected with wifi the rest of the time. Results are much better, 81%left, 20hours of standby and 2h14min of usage.

For me definitely not getting the same battery life on 5.1.1 even when I was JB

The only way to truly measure a comparison is to use both version's of the OS over a defined period of timing doing exactly the same thing in the real world...

For me it has been the following, I go to gym each morning and use my 4s in the following manner:

- Wifi on and connected
- Cr@p poor GSM reception because it is underground but left on
- Bluetooth connected to wireless Jaybird earphones
- Watch 40min Tv series on Good Player
- Listen to Tunein Radio for 30min (screen off)

on 5.1.1 I would leave gym with around 81% of a total of 98% when arrived from a full overnight charge, now I leave around 68% on 6 GM

I got these results:

Usage: 3 hours, 2 minutes
Standby: 1 day, 12 hours

It was at 12% when I checked. I installed 6.0 GM by doing a restore and setting up as a new phone. On 5.1.1 I was getting about the same usage and an extra day of standby. That's 24 hours of battery life gone.

To be fair, the brightness setting has changed (more sensitive to light change) and the Weather app now gets my location every time I use it. Both of these will be contributing to loss of battery life. All settings are the same as they were on 5.1.1. Also, I did use Siri and Maps for a bit to try the new features out. I hardly ever used these before so I think I'll see improvement over the next few days as I return to normal usage. It's still too early to tell for sure how the battery performs.

Usage: 4 hours and 30 minutes, standby: 1 day and 6 hours. Had 35% left (iPhone 4). Seems fine to me!

I have exactly the same problem with battery life as a lot of people here...it dies within 3 or 2 hours even when I'm not doing anything...my iPhone 4S also gets extremely hot all the time...I have restored several times, charge and recharged, played with different settings and nothing...it was perfectly fine on beta4. I would greatly appreciate any help with this.

I have 20% battery left on my iPhone 4S

Here are the stats on iOS 6 GM

Usage: 4 hours, 48 minutes

Standby: 9 hours, 55 minutes.

Is that good?

Well, my 4S has been getting horrible battery life since the GM, and yes I did a clean install.
If apple releases this version to the public, they can expect a @#$@ storm coming their way.
