That's really good.

What do you do with the phone for the hour? Check email? Browse?

Do you have push email enabled? How about notifications?

I do have push enabled I was surfing a bit. A little game play.

That doesn't really say much; out of 5 iPhone 4S I have used so far, all of them would stay at 100% for a long period of time then dropping relatively quickly.

Says enough to me.

On my iPad 3 I've got 9.5 hours using (50/50) internet over wi-fi and various games (including best battery eaters NOVA 3 and Mass Effect Infiltrator). So all in all iOS 6 GM gave me better battery life, than 5.1.1
P.S. Brightness was not higher than 40-50%

I've been using my 4s the last few days and my battery life is tanking hard. with iOS 5.1.1 I'd leave my office with 60+% life left at 6:00pm. Now I'm less than 40% consistently. Usage hasn't changed.

My IPod touch 4g has awesome battery life and still is not dead yet. http://s1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg558/jnmiah/?action=view&current=image.jpg

I did an upgrade (well, restore + restore from BU), and my battery life on GM is horrible. My 4S is plugged in to my laptop, and the battery percentage is still going down. I tried shutting off most notifications, facebook, there's no location apps running, ...

I wouldn't really mind testing a full restore to a clean state (most of the app data can be synced), but I'd hate losing my SMS history. Any way to avoid that? Any other thing I can try?

Mine is consideribly worse. Maybe I should do a clean install.
Playing music (Spotify, synced) for 4h now, down to 28%.

I just noticed that while plugged in (iTunes not running), every few minutes the iPhone will vibrate twice, just like it's being unplugged an plugged in back. Could this be some kind of power process on the phone crashing and restarting? (wild guess..)

Convinced my phone has developed a fault in the last few weeks...

Been upgrading through the Beta's, since the last half of beta 4 and GM, i now drain 10% per hour, even on standby.

Usage is always about 40 minutes less than standby, even when it's not been touched for hours.

Restored to factory settings on phone last night, and noticed it was draining the same, should i have left it to drain and then charged again? Surely the usage and standby times should have stopped being almost the same?

Thinking of taking it into the apple store, but any words of wisdom would be appreciated!

I don't think your iPhone developed any problems...a lot of people including me seem to have the same problem...factory reset doesn't help, tried that already, but beta 4 was running perfectly on mine...there is definitely something wrong with iOS 6 GM...also I can't connect to wifi on my campus because GM does not load pop-up log in screen properly...super annoying, I hope apple will fix all these bugs very soon

Let it go all the way down and then recharge til full. Then try a Reset Network Settings. This worked for me a couple of betas ago.

So nothing helped but to restore back to Beta 4...phone stopped overheating and battery became normal...then restored to the official release of the iOS 6 from iTunes today and no problems...really strange though, since both final and GM are exactly the same releases...

Battery life is fantastic! I have been through all the betas and now running the GM currently have 1 Day 11 Hours Standby and 6 Hours 32 Minutes Usage and still at 42 %!

Mine has dropped like a rock since the update (4S). I always got very good battery life, but it has dropped 40 percent in the four hours since I upgraded. Normally, I would lose 40 to 50 percent in a full day.

3gs. 20 hours standby, 4 hours usage, at 15%. Not sure if that's good or bad.

I updated to IOS6 today and also now have a "Hot" 4S that drains the battery quickly.

Also, they took away the ability to disable "Auto Logon" and now I cannot connect to our company's wifi. As soon as a connection is made it tries to communicate with itunes.com which my company has blocked. When the connection cannot be made it disconnects the wifi.

I had a hot 4S today too. Errors piling up at the rate of one about every 12 seconds under General - About - Diagnostics/Usage - D/U Data

Turned out to be iCloud sync issue for me. I turned off Calendars, Contacts, PhotoStream, Safari and Reminders under iCloud. Waited 30 seconds, then turned them back on. Got some Calendar alerts right away, and after that - no more trouble. Phone is cool, battery good, no more errors in the logs. Hope this helps someone...

I just updated and the battery life on my 4S sucks... no apps open and I can actually see it clicking down, went from 100% to 90 in less than 15 minutes.

I'll do a restore when I get home... but seriously how about some QA testing Apple?

Did another clean install today, still terrible battery life on the 4S.

Typical apple...releases OS updates for older devices, but doesn't optimize performance on those devices. (so is this any better than those android phones that don't get any updates at all?)

I'm pretty sick of apple's **** ups lately.

I can't check my actual battery time on my iPhone 4s since I did a reset and "reset all settings" to try and fix another problem (neither fixed it, ironically clearing my autofill data did), but I plugged it in when doing the update at about 3 PM EDT. I was using WiFi at work and now it's showing 36%.

Compared this to iOS 5 this past weekend where I was also on WiFi all weekend. I ended up with 9 hours of usage (mostly music) and about 1 day and 16 hours of standby.

I noticed the brightness setting is all weird. With auto set on, the slider slides by itself on my iPhone (not on my iPad). It never used to do that.

My iPad 2 is in a similar state. I had it plugged in while updating. Now it's showing 39% battery life about 9 hours later. I never get that low unless I forget to charge it at night. Again over the weekend I got to about that level after 2 days.

Also my iPad 2 was having WiFi issues. It would be stay connected, but kept dropping packets. Restarting fixed that, but now I'm wary.

Right now I'm trying to drain the battery on my iPhone and iPad so I can do a full cycle charge. Hopefully that will fix things.

Well I just went to lunch and my battery dropped 30% (in under an hour) with me not even using the phone. I'm trying a restore at work... what a joke!

I haven't upgraded so I'm going to wait and see what comes outta this. But if these phones are having problems I can only imagine how the 5 is going to be. Apple blows wind up our butts about battery life. They barely get to half what they claim

I have been running the iOS 6 GM on my iPhone 4S since it came out (I did an update and not a restore). I think initially it seemed like my battery ran down quicker, but after I killed all running apps and "Reset All Settings" under SETTINGS-->GENERAL-->RESET (I think I did it twice as someone on here suggested). I then power my phone off then on and maybe even did a hard reset for good measure. Since then my battery has lasted me a good part of the day. Granted, when I am at work we have free Wi-Fi so I am not using cellular data which uses more power.

My 3rd gen iPad seems to be draining faster with iOS 6 than it had been with 5.1.1 so I need to figure that out.

The battery is draining less after doing the full restore, but TBH I think there may be issues with iMessage if I'm just messaging people it seems to drop rather quickly. Maybe it has something to do with the app waiting for receipts to say they've read the message, but rather than guess I'll just wait for the .2 update that fixes everything. ;)

Update: well after an hour and a half my phone has only dropped 4%. I'm going to say that's a hell of a lot better than earlier in the day. So if you're suffering dodgy battery charge at least try a restore.
