It's a tough place to draw the line. But for someone who has no backup, and want's this phone to last, I think I'm going to opt for the slider... or at least an invisible shield.

I was also obsessed with keeping my phone scratch free when I first got it. The first scratch occurred on the Apple logo on the back ---- I was awfully bummed out about that.

I then dropped the phone, luckily on carpet, and noticed a very, very small scratch on the bottom. Again, majorly bummed out about that one too.

The most significant scratch is on the top left of the unit. I got over that one pretty quickly, surprisingly:).

Of the three scratches, the last scratch or minor dent, is the only one that is noticeable. I was using a leather Sena case, which I promptly dumped and went back to my rubber case. If I had kept the phone in the rubber case, i would not have had a nick on the phone.

By the way, my phone turned six months on the 13th.

the iphone obsession

i noticed all the different cases for the iphone before i got one and i kind of scoffed at all the trouble people were going to. but then i got mine and i immediately wanted to put it under glass! i've tried a couple cases and currently i have the slider. i really like it. i've also gone thru a couple screen protectors. i like the one they sell at the apple store for the 3g. i do miss the feel of the naked phone a little, but not enough to leave it unprotected.

Dont get an incase slider it scratched my phone up bad and scuffed up all the chrome on it. It would have been better if i left the case off of it.

I have the matte screen and hard cover on mine. Yet I am so worried about the first time I drop it.

I 'm thinking of going with the rubber shock case, but like the way it is easy to get in and out of my pocket for now.

I guess I will but the Square Trade warranty for it. I got the iPhone from an Apple store but the last time I purchased a Square Trade warranty, they gave me a big discount on any NON-eBay item.

Well, I love keeping my iPhone in a pristine condition, and I'm very obsessed about it too.
I use two kinds of protection;

1) InvisibleSHIELD - awesome product, gives a nice grip to the product so you don't drop it as well XD

2) $5 eBay-China silicone case (lol) - got it through eBay, this silicone case is really thin and it really doesn't feel like my iPhone is wearing anything!

These two helped me keep my iPhone in a good condition, and I'll recommend them BOTH to you as well XD

Just give up now. My iPhone gets knocked around more than a Thai hooker and I HATE how it feels in a case. It is still a cell phone so I know I'll have to buy another one in about a year so make it look nice and manly and just have it get scratched.

;)

there is only one case that I've owned that won't scratch. That is the Otterbox Defender.

I've used many cases. I've bought more cases than you can imagine.

The chrome bezel is usually the first to get scratched in a case. Especially in a silicone case.

Using a full body Invisibleshied, Bodyguardz, Bestskinsever, etc, The bezel still gets scratched. Most films do not cover the entire bezel. Using a protective film, the part that gets scratched is the chrome bezel that is flush with the screen. That's where most people have scratches. It's inevitable.

For anybody that does not have scratches on the chrome bezel that is flush with screen, please let me know what (if any)protection you use. I'm ready to take mine out to the Otterbox and use something new.

Yea, I'm no longer worried about the scratches. I just take my phone out of it's slider and clean it every night. If it gets a scratch, so be it, at least the phone is protected if I drop it. Not to mention, knock on wood, the screen is so scratch resistant it doesn't even need anything on it.
