So I recently discovered "baby" (my iPad Pro 12.9") had a major light bleed issue in the center bottom of the screen (conveniently 16 days after the warranty was up.) :/

Anyway I was lucky and was able to trade it in and get a new one from a local re-seller last night, but now I'm even more anal about the display uniformity as this is my main machine and computer, (which I use for animation, graphic design, film, and photography) so I need it to be somewhat close to perfect. I opened the new iPad and it has no light bleed or color issues, but a small slightly darker spot on the bottom left corner, it's very slight and doesn't ruin anything really, but my OCD is in overdrive because of having to sell my last one and I'm a bit weary of imperfections. Is it normal for these larger screens to have some slight darker spots on the edge? It also is not causing distortions when viewing images or anything, just at certain angles it's darker than other corners, again just curious if this is a normal thing? I never checked my other iPP for this so I can't really compare it or anything.
I have 2 pictures of it, could someone humor me and let me know what they think about it?
again just weary about any issues on this device.
    Thanks for any help. :)

Wow that's different colours all across the bottom and up the right hand side.

But in reality you can tell the quality of a screen by a picture, if it was a big black blob maybe, colour shading no.

Your expecting people to share your OCD, change the brightness see if that helps.

If your not happy, take it back, and then take it back, if your still not happy try again.

I noticed those dark spots right away. It doesn't seem normal to me. Especially with the various color schemes showing the spots. I would return it if possible. Then again, unless someone else has knowledge on this issue, then hopefully they would be of more assistance.

Thanks I went to Best Buy and back to the re-seller simplymac, and found 2 of the display models had the same type of thing.
Also any color distortions in the images I posted is from the Zagg glass I installed.

Here's one last picture, (ignoring the rainbow colors from the glass does the display
Look faulty to anyone? Again it's maybe me just being anal, but I appreciate getting some other opinions on this and also if having any darker spots is normal for such a big display.
    Thanks again.

Worth a trip to the Apple Store / Genius Bar to try for a replacement under warranty.

Apple has "Secret Warranties" all the time, they were fixing Powermac G5 quads long after the posted warranty was up.

There are no perfect LCD displays out there on any iPad — new or previous models. Some are better than others and some are worse than others, but none are perfect. I went through several 12.9" units with backlight bleed. I settled on the one with the least, not the unit that had no backlight bleed because that unit does not exist.

Yeah nothing is perfect I know that, but if there's a way to get the least sucky or just an acceptable unit... I'm all for that.
So I decided to go in the store and see what could be done and it was the 2 gentlemen I dealt with last night. Both were super patient with my anal/OCD craziness, but also saw a defect was definitely there, so they went to just get confirmation from their manager, all 3 confirmed it was an issue, and exchanged it for a new one. Then said they would send the other to Apple.
Always best to go in person rather than talk to people over the phone I guess. Anyways, I hope the replacement is ever so slightly better, (*knock on wood.) Thanks for all the help gents or ladies, I will leave you now to return to your regularly scheduled program. ;)

I can appreciate your frustration. I expect Apple products to be perfect when it comes to the displays and I guess I've been very fortunate to always get one. Best of luck

I wouldn't settle if you're not happy with it, the 12.9 being as expensive as it was, I wouldn't settle for the Price I paid. Glad you got some help. If they demand that kind of price, you should be happy with the product you get. :)

I understand you are ocd... that being said, I fear you will not find one without something wrong. I have 4 iPads and 5 iPhones in my family. Happily I am not ocd. A couple of the ipads i think have this problem. the corners are hardly ever viewed. there is usually something dark in the corners anyway? That issue is there, but does not bother anyone in my family, or myself for that matter. Hope you find one you can live with.

I’m kind of the same way the original poster is — pretty picky with details. OCD (Obssesive Compulsive Disorder), on the other hand, has become a popular and over used catch-phrase. True OCD is a serious mental disorder. People with actually diagnosed OCD are in deep distressful mental pain that requires medication and or cognitive therapy.

I bring this up to draw a distinction between an over used misunderstood popular phrase and someone who just happens to be very picky.

OCD is used as slang way too much, I agree. In the US anyway and in my circles. But yeah, someone that is very picky is often described as being OCD.

I would take it back. I went through 17 iPad Mini's back when they were having image retention issues when they launched.

I remember that whole problem. Did you finally get an acceptable one?

I'm very picky about my screens but I dont think thats a problem. It's soooooooooo slightly and all corners are a bit darker anyway. Most ipad pros I saw are like that too.
I really fear for your new unit. Might be much worse.

I was diagnosed with OCD when I was 14, but have had it for 30 years (I know what it does to someone.) I just used it to try to help shed light on why I needed input on this issue. Not the best way to use the word, but I wasn't aiming to take away from the seriousness of the disorder itself either.

I got the new unit with a more uniform screen, (only issue was the back aluminum had some strange residue marks) but I was able to remove them (mostly) after some work.
