Anyone can sign at your address.I work for Ups. Only if it says indirect signature than that usually means that you need to sign. With the iPhone anyone can sign.
I'm with AT&T, used Next to order two phones through Apple.com, and I have two phones arriving sometime next week. Not sure what part AT&T has to play in the delay you're seeing, but it's not a universal issue.
Does UPS really let you pre-sign one of the Apple forms and leave it at the door if I am not there or does that only apply to business? I may not be there when the guy is supposed to deliver.
Adding to this question, I am at an apartment. Typically, if I am not home, they go to the leasing office and leave the package with the apartment manager or leasing agent (they sign for any of my packages I miss). Would this also work with the iPhone, or do they require dropping it off at the specific address? I was thinking of signing a pre-release instructing them to just drop it off at the office, wasn't sure if that is necessary.
You have to sign the Apple release form but it is totally up to the driver if they feel comfortable to release the package. Make sure you tape the paper to the door.

Ok, well this is what an "Apple Genius" told me at the store a few hours ago. I'm jumping to conclusions..sorry. Not so "genius" or some crazy excuse, stall tactic on a hectic day for him.
I looked up the story and saw that was 50% true ( http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/09/17/iphone-6-plus-pre-orders-shipping-early/ ) Yes ATT.com are getting these today, much earlier..but no mention it affects the Apple orders.
Also seeing others here dealing with ATT are getting the phones Monday, middle of next week. In the end, I don't know the reason for my hold up, also a few others here with the same model, same carrier. Wont speculate anymore.
No movement on my order whatsoever, it's very frustrating, thats all.

I wonder what the 2 days of difference is in the delivery dates if they seem to be in the same shipping process. Mine says the 25th, but has the same shipment process times as some of you who have the 23rd.

I guess sometime UPS's system is faster than the Apple system.

Well i'm thoroughly confused now. I've been preparing for shipment since everyone else (Iphone 6+ 16GB Verizon Space Grey) and yet since these messages starting going out I have been unable to find out any information via the UPS website. I got to track by reference, type in the Order # minus the 2 digits or the phone number, enter the zip, and enter the country and hit search. I'm doing this correctly, right?

I only put in the order number minus the last two digits and no other field. Have you tried that?
That's not a good indicator of anything. Mine dropped off days before my stuff shipped. It can be different times for different banks/cards.
Did anyone who found their tracking number on UPS (reference method) see their serial number show up on https://supportprofile.apple.com/ yet? My Apple order page still hasn't updated.
