I'm starting to appreciate Amazon Prime even more. Amazon figured out how to get UPS to take care of their customers. Did apple not do the same just to save maybe a couple of dollars per shipment for the lower tier packages? (I'm obviously just speculating here).

Again, there's no reason to have a 3 day delay in China and another delay of more than 24 hours in Louisville.

I'm happy for apple to make a profit off of me, even a nice profit. But if apple is prioritizing a couple of dollars above customer satisfaction on a ~$1k high margin product, then the slight extra short term profit may come at a high long term cost of alienating customers. Again, just speculating.

Wow, y'all, I didn't even order from Apple and this thread still stresses me out, hahaha.

I don't even have a delivery window - "in 4-6 weeks" (well, as of a couple hours ago, 3-5 weeks). I keep hoping mine will slip through early but after having perused this thread and the carrier threads, I'm thinking next time I may just try my luck at the stores instead.

Oct. 1 to 6 Delivery Date Orders (Update) Shipping earlier!

What does this mean? When I click the one without an aircraft listed it shows "delayed", but they are the same plane, UPS99. I'm assuming this is the flight one of my phones will be taking next.

Well if the trend continues, that 3-5 weeks may become 2-4...then eventually 7-10 days - which for the majority of us it shipped earlier than that. As for the stress..yeah, I've leanred it comes with the territory. My first preorder and the mental torture and OCD-like behavior of checking status updates 50-80 times a day, tracking live flight updates, shipping movements. its off the charts.

I'll never order again. I'll just block out 3 vacation days and trick the hell out of my street camping kit! I just don't have the right temperament for this crap...

Oh yeah, I track the live flights too - it's in a tab on safari on my iPad and I flip to it every hour or so, hahahahaha!!

If 7-10 days was right, well, I ordered my phone 7 days ago. If it shows up on Friday I'll be over the moon but I don't really see that happening considering we haven't really finished orders for 9/12 yet.

2 days definitely sounds better than 2 weeks. But then again, getting a full night's sleep sounds better than setting my alarm at 2:50 in the morning (and then spending the next 2 hours trying to preorder my and my wife's new iphones). I expected to get up, put in my preorders in 20-30 minutes max, go back to sleep and get a release day shipment.

Instead, I spent hours trying to get both preorders in. And people whose phones were shipped after mine are getting deliveries earlier than me (because Apple selected me for expedited service instead of express saver).

So specifically, what irks me:
1) Wasting hours in the middle of the night because Apple can't set up a proper server farm. Don't tell me it's too technically difficult. Plenty of websites handle far more volume every day.
2) Shipping delays because I got selected to a lower tier of shipping on a $950 phone. (Shouldn't the most expensive phones with the largest profit margins get the faster shipping option?) At the very least, everybody should get the same shipping speed.
3) Probably the most irritating issue, Apple and UPS not acknowledging my concerns about the preorder process and shipping delays and being told that I should just be happy with what I have. (Really, after I shelled out nearly $600 for a phone--$500 plus tax plus $40 upgrade fee--after the $450 subsidy for a 2 year contract).
4) Apple couldn't even get the keynote streamed properly.

I think Apple is burning through some significant brand loyalty here, and UPS is adding insult to injury. Not that I'm going to do anything about it (it's not like I'm going to return the phone because of this). But I'll think twice before giving Apple my money in the future.

I'm starting a business that needs a couple of servers. I was toying with the idea of running Apple servers.

I agree with you %100.

Got an update from UPS saying my 9/25 delivery is going to be early and I'll be getting it tomorrow. Wooooo

Ha Ha, I was like, wow, checking status updates 50-80 times a day, tracking live flight updates, shipping movements...that guy is sick! Then I realized that, yeah, that's me....lol.

Tracking status hasn't updated with the departure scan out of Ontario, CA but UPS 2964 departed from ONT at 11PM local time and is on its way to HNL. Most everything that flyingwasabi mentioned (thanks for providing insight as to the base procedures/operations) happened like clockwork for my shipment (I have all my UPS status updates with screenshots in this thread).

It's not Apple's fault about shipping, this is strictly a UPS issue. UPS really thought they could handle the volume; however, they couldn't so, they're accusing Apple of shipping packages saver/standard etc. UPS bit off more than they could chew, unfortunately they will never take ownership.

Well Its official according to UPS, I am getting a package tomorrow meaning 9/25 not 9/24. Well at least now i can go to bed.

This is exactly the type of disparity that im talking about! where are the emails for the rest f us 9/25ers?

I can accept moderate delays before a trans-pacific flight... due to the way the transpacific corridors work, you only get so many reasonable slots to make the flight in most cases.

But yeah.. once at worldport, especially arriving before the time for normal over-night shipments.. there is no reason they couldnt make the delivery. Artificially adding delays purely to make a 6th rate class is silly... sure charge a bit more for before noon delivery... charge a little more for early morning delivery... and BY ALL MEANS charge more for "express critical" with its custom chartered flights, and/or hand carried delivery... but yeah... basically taking express and adding days to make another class is silly... I mean the next thing down is air flight to us then ground from there... (then you have to go to other carriers to get the real "slow BOAT from china"... several weeks in transit via boat and ground).

also this makes no business sense... every time a human has to go touch cargo it costs more money... (yet this option is 'cheaper' than express saver)... some chap has to go out and move cargo off the line, later to move it back on.. search for where the 9/25ers are... the 9/26ers... sure thats only a few cents a packages, but it adds up... that is the beauty of world port... normally there are 2 touches of package .. and that is it... everything else is automated... leading to minimal cost overhead. maybe my company's culture is weird... if it doesnt add value to the customer (or is purely a regulatory requirement/needed to run the business) we dont do it. Dont go put something on a rack that you will need to go get 3 minutes later... dont make more than what is needed... dont keep more inventory than is needed ... give the in work part to the next operator when they need it to keep it moving down the line to the customer as soon as possible, as close to when the customer wants it as possible. (maybe ill actually go to sleep this time)

So does anyone wanna discuss all these reports coming out regarding #bendgate. I'm a little concerned about these people's claims about the 6+ bending so easily. Mind you most of these are reports from people who like to use their phone w/o a case so that portion isnt applicable to me but I'm wondering what the rest of the community thinks.
My take is that this isn't isolated to the iPhone 6 Plus. Other iPhone models have also experienced bending. Hell, even devices from other manufacturers have experienced this.

http://www.cultofmac.com/297404/get-bent-shocking-history-bent-smartphones/

As for that iPhone 6 Plus video, he had to exert a lot of force with his hands to get it to bend that way. So yeah, any sort of leveraged force (which can happen with clothing if your phone gets pinned the right way) could potentially cause it to bend (but this isn't isolated to just the iPhone).

It's complete bull s---!

That plane that your phone is on is full of Next Day Air Packages. No matter what happens with weather it WILL be there in the morning at your sorting center. They give the weather delay in case you have an Early A.M.(before 9a.m.) or Next Day Air which is before 10:30a.m. Air packages cost SOO much money to ship that Ups will not delay a full plane of packages. It might show up an hour or 2 late but it will show up. I work for Ups and this happens a lot in Florida.
