I was scoping out the PowerBook section (Apple Store) yesterday, and stumbled across this intriguing visual. I actually found this yesterday morning before I left for work. When I checked this a few hours later at work (To show a colleague), Apple had reverted back to drop down list. When I checked it at home last night it was changed back to screenshot below. And when I checked it this morning is was drop down lists again.
Keep in mind that the only took place within the PowerBook section. I think Apple may be doing a overhaul on the site as well. Maybe not the look but seems this could spark a big funtionality change. This also may be evidence that we will be seeing new PowerBooks today/tomorrow
YOU DECIDE!

The best available G4 is the 7448 and that is the chip I believe we'll see in the new PowerBooks.
I too would like to see the return of the cube - hopefully for less $$$ but sad as it is I don't see it happening.
One thing though, if this event tomorrow is for a bloody Madonna iPod I am going to scream.
Shoe horning a G5 into a mini is going to be pretty much as non-trivial as getting a G5 into a PB and we all know how well that exercise went. There is no chance we will ever see such a beast and the PowerPC-based mini will max out with the 7448 before moving to Intel.wdlove said:I don't think so either. Let's go wild and predict a G5 Mac mini optional at $100 extra.

I hope it is done by then, I have to go to school tomarrow, but my lunch is from 11:00 to 11:30, I can sneak into the library and check out apple.com. I can hardly wait!Originally Posted by Squonk
For past announcements, the apple store is off-line for the duration of the event or keynote and is usually back on-line within 10-15 from the end of the event. So, for this event, figure by 11:15am Pacific time.

And I hear you guys talking about a new powerbook, so should I wait or what?
rjc said:Re: RAM. My advice would be to buy RAM from someone other than Apple. Apple's RAM is very expensive. If I bought RAM from an online store, then paid $50 for my local computer store to install it, I'd still be way ahead of Apple's prices.
If you don't need the computer today, I'd wait at least until next Tuesday. There are more updates coming. (The "more updates" will be at the very least the Mac Mini being officially updated, with the best-case scenario being updates to the Mini, the Power Mac, and the Powerbook).
Whatever you do, congratulations on the new Powerbook.
I can't see a smilie anywhere and I'm struggling to believe someone would actually suggest this. Apple RAM is expensive, no question, and it is cheaper to buy and install third party RAM. If you get the correct RAM you should have no problem. Plus with the money you save on RAM you can probably afford an iPod.generik said:No way.. by your token, your advice would be to buy a laptop from Dell, because Apple laptops are underpowered and very expensive.
Buy Apple ram, you won't regret it. Besides, as an added bonus, once you spent that extra buying Apple's ram, you can now have the assurance that your $400 Applecare package will cover your ram as well!
