Strange set of countries?? Where's Australia :/
Australia isn't a large market so will presumably be further down the line. Not the end of the world and at least the strength of the aussie dollar will make the price better for you.

After the rumors on production delays of the new iPhone, I was almost sure that second-tier countries (i.e., non-US) would get the new iPhone next year at the earliest.

Sucks to be in Switzerland, Australia, Italy, etc...

About what time of day do invites usually go out?

If you are Gizmodo, at exactly NEVER o'clock; :D

Since apple ahs waited longer, they can release it soon after an initial announcement. If they have been producing it for a while now, they could have enough to have a world wide launch, which i think would be great!!!!

oh God dang-it, i wanna my iPhone 5 now.

If

the claimed specs are true and they likely are, I will be at the AT&T store on the 14th, and promptly drooling.

Not sure how fast Apple should go with new versions of phones (iPhone's average is 12~18 months, others ramp out new gear every 3~6, which is expensive and absurd IMHO) - and the manufacturing processes to make ANY cell phone or other gear is not very environment-friendly. Apple's pacing is right on this; I'd rather see competition slow down, if that makes any sense...

I do dig Android, but iOS is far, FAR more stable. PocketInformant, I noticed, has been updated as well - Especially with email syncing DIRECTLY with Outlook, this will be great... (I don't work for Pocket Informant, but have used their software since the days of Pocket PC 2003... it's invaluable to me (YMMV, of course))

Hopefully iOS5 will have improved multitasking, but everything's poised to be a "win", even if they didn't improve multitasking (especially when trying to use the device while it downloads app updates).
