I wouldn't pay more than $50 bucks for this mess. Merely a paper weight.

I remember as if it was yesterday, people were calling this a fake, un-apple like, too rigid edges, etc etc.

Reminds me of these days.

I say it's a knock-off being passed off as a prototype. Why would Apple put some junk looking OS on a prototype?

Also... if it is a real prototype, Apple legal will be on this. I would assume it's property of Apple and should not be in the wild for sale.

because its a testing unit, they dont need the full OS which may not even have been finished at that time.

they all do it, i remember how Sony sold a few shipments of the PSP with their testing OS on it a few years ago by mistake

Yeah - I'd like to know that to. Do they rumble around in the Apple Skips?!

And I will pay $10 :)

Skips? is that what you guys call dumpsters?

Also, everyone who is saying "Who would pay that" is being made to look like a fool by this thread as evidenced by the people who are increasing the amount "they would pay". All it takes is two people who really want it to drive the price way up (or a fake ebay account).

Fake Guaranteed

That's just a knock off that people can have made in China for about a couple hundred US bucks. There were mini iPhones for sale a few years ago, but once you bring them outside China they either don't work or fall apart like this one here.

This makes me curious: how much would an... let's say... "Apple Enthusiast"... pay for an iPhone 5 prototype?

Before release, I myself would pay $1000, after release, a true prototype, depending on the physical differences and the OS it is running, and the state of it, Id pay a little less than $1000
But thats just me...

When I saw that it had a production week of some time in 2009, I wondered if it was the one the guy committed suicide over, when he lost a prototype of the next year's (2010's) model. I remember thinking at the time "WTF! They've already got them ready with what will be year old tech?!?".

I found the article, but that lost prototype was July, not October like the one on ebay now.

My mother grew up near Detroit, and says she often saw unbranded vehicles driving around. You could usually still tell which car manufacturer had made it, based on styling and such, but they were prototypes and the companies didn't want to put their hood ornament or whatever on the cars so it was easy for their competitors to see who was working on what.
Now they drive around with black covers over the entire body of the vehicle - or at least anything of note for style. See those every now and then in the metro area with a manufacturer (M) plate on the back.
