Then you need to go back to a 1999 sony ericson and don't waste other people's time or screen space.

what a ridiculous thing to say.

Again, let's persecute the free thinkers! If it's not :apple: it's not right! If you don't like the iPhone's screen it's not right! If Steve doesn't do the Keynote oh no it's not right! Even when he's dead he better come back for the Keynotes because God forbid someone so unworthy as Tim do it, because that's not right! Oh no that's not right!

I will be happy when this part is over, and then there can be thread talking about what they announced, and then the thread of when you ordered your phone at midnight PDT.

But then we'll also have to deal with the threads about people complaining that the steroid enhanced version of the iPhone they were waiting for didn't get produced and how they'd like those features in the iPhone 6.

I swear it's the other way around. Girls decipher a guys text so much, "what does he MEAN?"

I think we both do that. I know personally my buddies and I end up sometimes overthinking a message one of our girls' sends us. I'm sure our girlfriends do that too. We were just never meant to understand each other

Being pro-choice and free thinking doesn't go over too well here. People here love everything that Apples does. Even if they don't.

Dude you're posting on Apple related forums. If you don't like it just leave. What topic of discussion did you expect to find here anyway?! Plus pro choice, chances are that choice on MacRumors will be Apple.

It's not because of Steve. Jeezz people. some of you seem to think he lives in his office. I'm gonna guess he is rarely even in his office.

And the Yerba Center is closer to his house than the Apple campus is I think. So thats not the reason.

I'm going with the simple fact that Cook is in charge now and he wants to do it at the campus simply because that's where HE wants it done.

No conspiracy theory.

Not a conspiracy theory but I think they want to do it in October at Apple Town Hall in 2011. Why is everything bolded? Because last time there was something BIG with music they did it in October at Apple Town Hall in 2001. Sound familiar? I'm guessing they want a whole shebang about the iPod's 10th birthday, and what better place to do it than the place where it all started. Think about it... ;)

Actually it's a good reason. He's standing up for what he believes in and is voting with his wallet. All consumers should do this.
I agree with you 100% on that.

On a side note, I'll be needing a few new TVs next year. Guess they won't be Samsungs. ;)

I'm sure they'll tell us that is the reason, but realistically, it seems likely that the date was a bit of a moving target and they were unable to commit to a date at Buena Yerba.
When Steve's dead in a few months & Apple returns to the state it was in, in the 90s before his return, we will see. Apple was dying on it's ass before he came back & product innovation had all but stopped.
You honestly think that Apple was just one man? It's a huge company, whose success has only increased during his absence, and whose culture now has his philosophy well ingrained in it. And which is neck and neck with Exxon as the American company with the largest market cap. Will Apple eventually fail as a company? I think so, based on the fact that from time to time economic paradigms shift, and new technologies are invented. I am just not convinced that this is likely to happen in the next 20 years.

Probably just because of scheduling. That and to lock down the wifi

especially if there's an iPhone launch with this.. Almost forgot about the iPhone 4 Keynote fail haha

Since they use the same old predictable style and slides, it really doesn't matter where it's held. Just get it over with. Then we'll be one step closer to iPhone 6, the one that's sure to be a significant upgrade.

Just going to point out to you that the first iPod was not that big. The iPod really did not truly take off until the 3rd generation with the release of iTunes for windows. Until then it was just a another MP3 player on the market.

in 2001 it only worked on a very small part of the market at maybe 5% of the computers out there could use it. 2003 was when it really all changed.

I think that Apple is more likely to commemorate the date when the iPod was first introduced than they are to commemorate the date that iTunes was ported to Windows, don't you?

Does it really matter where it's held?

I'm just happy to see iOS5 go live, along with icloud

The venue is not a big deal

Chill peeps

Oracle's 29th annual Openworld is happening at the Moscone Center, which is LITERALLY around the corner from the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. 41,000 people attended Oracle's conference last year!!!

Apple just doesn't want to mix these two big events and the media covering both. I really think it's just that simple!

I get it but it seems like every comment he makes is anti Apple. I'm not saying I have to agree with everyone here but shouldn't constructive criticism at least be constructive?

Why don't any of you ever comment on the good things I post about Apple products?

what a dumb reason to make a phone choice.
i use iPhone cause its good.
You have your own blinkered view of the world, I have my wide open view. That's the difference between iSheep & those of us who choose...

IOS looks pretty tired now, & shoulda had a decent update. It's the jailbreakers & Android that are pushing IOS forward now. When your using the new notification system in IOS5 in a few weeks, which was developed by a former jailbreaker & blatently copied from Android & see how great it is compared to that crap we had to put up with for years, please remember my words...

Good post.

But you forgot Windows phone 7

Apple stole a bit from them too

I agree with you 100% on that.

Chances are they'll be using a Samsung panel though, ha-ha-ha!

No, of course I don't think Apple is one man, but I'm just going by history whilst he left Apple in the 90s. It's lost it's edge & and only got it back when he returned.

STOP LITIGATING AND GO BACK TO INNOVATING APPLE, YOU'RE BETTER THAN THIS!!!!

If you haven't guessed, I'm totally hedging my bets until the October 4th.
If they just come up with a speed-bumped 4S, then I take my business elsewhere(I'm thinking white GS2).
If Apple come back with a killer iPhone 5, I will be happier than anyone, but I think it is a big ask to think they'll actually better the GS2's specs. If they match them at least and put it in a pretty aluminium box with an Antenna that works then I'll be queing up...Simple...

Next time try dialing the phone you are holding and asking her.

Hello, a computer is OS not its box. If you like iOS 5 you should stay. Phone specs hardly mean anything.

And I have a theory about Steve. I don't think it has really been as much about Steve as everyone like to think. It has always been very convenient for Apple to let the narrative of the company to be all about Steve. The iMac was already in design when Steve came back but everyone let it be Steve's baby because it is a simpler story. Sure he is super important. But technology marches on, with or without any individual.

Just enjoy the here and now. And right now that means iPhone 4! The iPhone 5 will get here whenever.

Erm...To be fair, & give an even open-minded opinion, Windows 7 takes a lot from OSX too.

I have no problem with this, whatever makes an OS better is a good thing.

In any case, if you wanna see what's coming in a couple of years on your chosen operating system, just view a youtube video of the latest version of linux & you'll see what's coming, albeit a dumbed down version for the masses, to Apple or Windows, Ha-ha-ha!!!:D

I wish I could triple boot my phone too...

The most reasonable explanation from a thread already on this:

I Agree 100%.

And MacRumors staff. . . . you write some very good rumour articles. But don't ever go writing university assignments or articles. You'll fail. Simply for not referencing all your sources.

The worst part about your MacRumors articles is your refusal to quote everyone you get the information from. If they were published works, that'd surely invoke some copyright/plagiarism laws.

Steve will be a huge loss to Apple from the aspect of drive. However he has built up a good team beneath him and I believe all will be well.

As for the Droid boys, well you can keep your Honeycomb, your ice cream sandwich and any of the other daft names for your shotgun OS. I'll stick with something that works, isn't fractured and doesn't melt.

Oh, and I do believe we will see an iPhone 5. Apple aren't stupid. They know they need to push on and they will.

I just feel Apple doesn't give any loyalty back to their customers and it takes them longer to listen than they used to. I will be suckered into buying another iphone and sticking with Apple purely for design reasons only...IOS is no longer my favourite OS, but I'll stick with em for that...

True, practicality is more important than anything else to me, that is why I stuck with my 3GS, because I'm left handed & quite like to make calls on my phone too so iPhone 4s crap antenna is an issue for me!!!

I've played around with my friend's droids and even my N8, which I use when I'm holiday for the camera, has widgets.

...There..I've admitted it..I love widgets..
