Mine should be easy. I have to double my move goal three times this month. I do this every time I go to Orange Theory. I just started a competition with a friend, so I have extra motivation to accomplish this goal early on. I also want to get my move trend on the upside since I managed to move the stand trend up last month.

how is Orange Theory? I’ve been thinking of signing up for the past week but keep getting cold feet.

I love Orange Theory. At first I thought it would be intimidating, but people from a variety of different fitness levels are there. You can work out at your own pace. I usually power walk during the cardio session. Give it a try.

I need to earn 2810 Exercise minutes this month. That's 90min/day average. Between work and school, this will actually be a Challenge for once...

What are the requirements for the monthly challenge to appear in the Awards list? Activity in the previous month? I see an award with a design like in the above screenshot, but it's called "Perfect Month" rather than "October Challenge". It's description is also different.

Challenge is different from Perfect Month. Its a challenge customized to your health / activity history to get you to push for more of some metric (move goals, distance, calories, etc.). While they look the same, the badge is different once you achieve it, one being gold (Bronze?) vs silver (Titanium?) metal.

Did you recently setup your AW? I believe it will only show up on your second-third month after setting up your Apple Watch. I just repaired my watch / phone as new (punishing them for bad behavior) and my Oct challenge is no longer showing for the same reason I assume.

Some people love it. My ‘assigned’ Max HR was too high (eventually got tested, RHR 40 & MHR 165, not in 180s) so I was borderline puking to hit orange. My personal opinion is intense HIIT more than a few times a week isn’t healthy and a cardiologist at Mayo agrees. Said they are seeing people who do it too much.

My wife loved & lived it for years but now does Peloton more. Peloton comes with an OT-like workout program so can be done from home.

IMO, it’s good in moderation and if it gets you active when you haven’t been. I personally dislike the rah rah group classes but it was good ‘training’ the times I did it.

I ran a Ragnar relay up in Michigan a couple of weeks ago on a team that had a bunch of Orange Theory members and coaches. Their points system and Max HR calculation came up on one of the long van rides. I would have the opposite "problem" from you as a near-50-year-old. My max HR is 190 (resting HR 43-48), not 170 (220-50). Apparently, they can now override the default calculation based on your actual profile after a few classes. But if I went to a class, I would earn comparatively easy points until they did so.

I would not like the rah rah group classes either. I most often run, ride, and row alone. Exercising is my mental health time.

But one of my running buddies has improved his running tremendously doing Orange Theory in addition to his running. He just ran a 40-second 5K PR on Saturday at age 57. (He didn't start running until his 40's.)

Some cardiologists are questioning the benefits of running high mileage too, but I'm not going to stop training for marathons.

My goal this month is 112.5 miles - walk or run. It should be doable but my choice of exercise is cycling and if it is a clear day I will be cycling not running/walking.

Meh, just did a whole month of perfect rings - 1000cal active, 30min exercise, 12h stand. Need to up the exercise if I can, 30 minutes is not at all a challenge...
Nice job in September! I had a perfect month of 1000/30/12 in August, but took a few days off in September before and after my marathon. I'm 8/8 so far in October.

As for the Exercise goal, I'm not aware of any way to change it. I wish I could. A 1,000 calorie Move goal makes the 30 minute Exercise goal superfluous. It would be nice to increase it to 60 minutes.

I had a wine-tasting This last weekend in south of France, which broke my sequence. Back on it now!
