Not true. Both have SATA II 3Gbit/s.

I thought ever since the unibody macbooks that only the 17" model had the 3gb sata throughput, the others were only 1.5gbs (sata1).

As for the vertex seri , I bought one and had to send it in twice for replacement. Just out of nowhere died on me. Replaced it with an intel 160gb gen2 and that one has never skipped a beat.

Ya I saw that too! Still didn't see in there what type of SSD they ship with.

I didn't either, but hopefully someone who configured one with the included SSD will chime in. I did contact Apple and the rep told me they ship with 3.5" drives. Very, very glad to see they (allegedly) still support 2.5" drives ;)

I just recieved my Vertex 2 today and just installed it and I don't see much different with speeds at all. Here's a benchmark I'm not sure what it all means I'm a newbie with this.

Other than the much better write speed, the Sandforce based SSD is not that much better than the Intel (if use as a boot drive). Intel is still pretty good in the read department. I can't wait till Intel comes out with their next Gen in the next quarter.
