How's that yellow tint?
Clear cases look good for about a week. I actually splurged and spent the money to get a reputable clear case (Spigen) and it was still hideous after a week or two.

Clear cases look good for about a week. I actually splurged and spent the money to get a reputable clear case (Spigen) and it was still hideous after a week or two.
It's 4 months old, began yellowing about a month ago. I don't care about it too much because my phone is black, but when this happens I just get another one.
These cases (with padded corners) are the best, you can toss your iPhone wherever with confidence it won't break. The same can't be said for Apple's expensive cases, which cost $500 and still look like trash after 3 months.
I'm assuming you meant $50 when you typed $500.
I've had Apple cases on my X since I bought it (Leather for 10 months, Silicone since) and both have taken some pretty hard falls. My phone is in pristine condition. The leather has some scuffs and scratches but it adds character.
Obviously you're entitled to your opinion and I mine, but I think the consensus is more toward Apple cases having a quality feel and longevity versus plastic or TPU cases you get from other manufacturers for a fifth of the price.
Most people here seem to deem a visually new phone casing as a meaningful redesign. Something to get excited about. I’m not one of them. If you use them an external case option amounts to about the same thing. I’m half surprised this thread isn’t going nuts over the idea.

There are already hundreds of different iPhone cases out in the wild. For the Xr they will follow. So why get excited about?
New XR cases, however special, can of course never be as "big" as was, say, the first iPod or the first iPhone itself. However, much as the thread starter, I wouldn't be surprised if Apple came up with a special line of cases to complement the colorful phones, which would allow for individualized colorful combinations. The cases, thus, become much more a part of the phone experience than before with the X or the 8. This is very much what goes on with Apple Watch as well. What is big about this is that Apple more and more turns into a lifestyle company rather than a tech company. Of course this has been going on for a while, but it is indeed interesting to see, should this prediction be correct, that Apple emphasizes the lifestyle aspect now also within their iPhone line.
Exactly! Why get too excited about a case. Whether it’s an aftermarket one or the one Apple wrapped around the internals. That was my point.
I don’t ever use cases but I see what you’re sayin.
I see people with these clear cases and they look stained almost like cigarette stained yellow. Gross
hmmm that would actually be a very cool idea. If apple could figure out how to make an attractive clear case that doesn't yellow they would have a winner on their hands for sure.
What a bunch of party poopers. I’m a grumpy old sow and I’m excited that Apple may do something different for the Xr cases to show off the colors. I’m not counting on it, but I’m hoping they do.
The photoshopping is good, but boy let’s hope they’ll go a different way ...
That’s expensive! I paid 2.61 euros for five TPU cases including shipping via Economic Air Mail. They’ll be here long before the iPhone XR arrives and if they’re not crap, it’s too late for Apple to offer me anything. You can’t reveal a phone and then wait to announce cases. The world is moving on.

Thanks to Slickdeals coupon codes I’ve lost count of the number of quality clear and colored cases I’ve gotten for $2-$4 apiece. I don’t think I’ve spent even $20 (for the aggregate) yet. And only one is a cheap brand I never used before. It was only $2 and a previous edition for the XS got excellent reviews so I took a chance on it. And it does look well made, but it’s bulky.
The others include Caseology and Ringke models that I’ve used before and found to be excellent.
I’m not sticking an expensive phone into a cheap piece of crap that could do more harm than good. But at the same time...I don’t know about that Apple case. Maybe it is good.
But as I’ve experienced with my Apple silicone cases taking on stains and crumbling to pieces after just a few months of moderate use, the Apple name on a case doesn’t always mean it’s especially high quality.

Why would they be any worse than $3 cases or $40 cases from Apple? There aren’t that many ways to press clear silicon into a form. And they’re all made in China anyway.Lol. Yeah for 50cents each they will be top of the crap
How are the speaker and microphone going to work, if you close it at the bottom? This is the standard design every Chinese case has. The only thing missing are the color options, which will look great on a white iPhone XR.Good grief $40 USD for a clear case that’s open on the bottom?

I love the design of this case, I know it’s only plastic but as it’s made by Apple I doubt it will yellow
