Why would they be any worse than $3 cases or $40 cases from Apple? There aren’t that many ways to press clear silicon into a form. And they’re all made in China anyway.

How are the speaker and microphone going to work, if you close it at the bottom? This is the standard design every Chinese case has. The only thing missing are the color options, which will look great on a white iPhone XR.
They have cutouts that more closely align to the location of the speakers and mics and lighting port. They’re not a wide open slot at the bottom. Such cases aren’t ideal in all situations. For example I can’t plug in my Shure Mic into the lightning port with such a case. But they give good protection when I am working in the yard.

The iPhone 5 leather case was completely closed all around and I found it almost impossible to peel it off to clean the phone from months of dust. The iPhone 6 leather case however had a wide open cutout at the bottom. That’s just how it is. If you want an easy removable case which nonetheless sits tight, you’ve got to have a cutout somewhere.

My 8 Plus is currently in a fully enclosed silicone case with cutouts for the lightning port and speaker and mic. It is very easy to put on and take off and very stain resistant, too. It’s a bit more flexible than I find the Apple Silicone cases to be, so it is not hard to peel off.

I haven’t found cases that fully protect the bottom of the phone to be any more or less difficult than open bottom cases to remove. It really seems to depend more on how rigid the “bumper” part of the case is. Speck cases can be a real bear to remove.

But everyone’s experiences are different. I have fingernails that give me an advantage to removing cases.

I have a feeling Apple may have something big planned for the new iPhone Xr, they are yet to put cases on the website so I’m guessing they are planning to release a case which looks like the cases they released for the iPhone 5c and I think that would be so awesome

I photoshopped the kind of case Apple may design for the Xr View attachment 794247
They actually released that monstrosity of a case, that not only looks bad, but will collect dirt, food, dead skin etc. in its net...

You know what would look good? Apple‘s brown leather case with the blue XR shining through at the bottom end, the camera and the buttons. Think that’s what I‘ll go for if they offer it. Not a fan of clear cases myself as they look a bit like someone forgot to take the packaging off ..

With iPhone XS and XS Max, Apple announced cases 2 days prior to the preorder date. So October 17 is likely when they will be announced, or roughly 2 weeks from now.

Good to know! Thanks for posting this. I’ll check tomorrow! :)

I am going with Spigen. I have Spigen now and it has been a fantastic case. No reason to change unless Spigen gives me one.

Anyone know why Apple haven’t released a clear case and have just put the ugly OtterBox one on there website, I pre ordered the phone but haven’t got a case!

i'm wondering if Apple anticipated tepid initial demand for the Xr,and wanted to not have a over supply of cases? Let 3rd party venders have bloated inventory?

I am surprised they didn’t make matching silicone cases, too.

Maybe they didn’t put up the clear cases because on our thread about them we all scoffed at the prices! Which I still do but it would still have been nice to see them have something up for the Xr.

Just bought a silicone case from eBay, only £3.49 so pretty pleased with it and I can show off the design and colour of my Xr

I'm super bummed that there are no official Apple cases for the XR. While pricey my Apple leather case on my 6s still looks great after 3 years of use and is robust enough that my 6s still looks almost brand new despite a few drops. Was planning to get an XR to replace my 6s and an Apple leather case to go with it, now I'm not sure what to do. I've never had luck with 3rd party cases as they often have poor fit, scratch the phone they are supposed to protect, fall apart after a few months of use and frankly most of them are pretty ugly to start with.

I guess AirPower team is in charge of XR cases.
Oooh burnnn! :D

Yeah this is really quite unexpected. I was thinking we would see some artsy pops of colors in silicone and some clear cases as per the leak. But there’s nothing!

I know it’s not the Apple case discussed last week but there are 3 OtterBox cases and were up there when I ordered my XR. Though I got two Tozo cases and an XR and series 4 screen protector on Amazon for less than one of those otterboxes.
