are you sure your name is not sean kovacks? Dude, GV+ lacks push, and the last update trashed auto-correct
there is a race condition and texts can be sent to a different recipient when you click on someone before the conversation finishes loading....

and this was free...

Different strokes for different folks I guess. I think the google official app is garbage compared to GV+. Like I said originally, the only thing I want is push and favorites for my dialer. Auto-correction would be nice too. The google app has been buggy so far for me, hopefulu they fix it.

So, my question is:

Does this mean I can kill the 20$ unlimited text messaging feature I added to my plan and just send texts this way via data? If so, I'm going to be really REALLY happy.

I cant find it neither in Appstore. But i guess if you dont live in US your of the map!?
It would be good if the article could mention where or what region it has been accepted. Sorry i'm a bit frustrated that 99% of times i cant find things that are suppose to be released/accepted. Another example is SkyFire which i really like to get my hands on.

Google is based in the US. Doesn't it make sense to roll this out in the US first? I'm sure wherever you live there are companies that manufacture products not available in the US. It's just how it works. The world's economy isn't 100% global.

I find it funny that Google Voice has been out this long, and people still don't understand that the clients do not actually run VOIP. The only VOIP-crunching is happening on Google's server-side.

Maybe at some point they'll transition to discrete VOIP, end-user-to-end-user, but for now, that's just not how it works, folks.

Everyone knows this by now, but when I get a text via Google Voice, it also comes through via the native iPhone messaging app. Is it possible to not forward Google Voice texts to the iPhone messaging app?

Google voice does not give you one dedicated number, how can you add it to your A-list?

you are probably thinking of the "Call Phone" feature of GMAIL now. if you don't activate your google voice and tie it to your email, then yes the number u call in your browser will always be random. When you activate google voice, you get to pick your number.

yes, go to google.com/voice settings and turn it off so it doesn't forward the text's to your phone, only to google voice.

Yep. Go to the Google Voice website on your computer and go to:

Settings > Voice Settings > Phones

Click on EDIT for the iPhone in question and make sure you uncheck the box that says "Receive text messages on this phone". Calls and push notifications will still call to your phone, except for text messages.

Also, if you have your Voicemail Notifications checked to send a text (SMS) message to your cell phone, you might want to uncheck that as well, since the app itself will send you push notification of a voicemail. Kinda seems redundant to have a text AND push notification alerting you of the same thing.

Perfect! Thanks.

You can't. At least I don't think so. Prior to downloading this app, I was using the mobile site on my phone (which in my opinion works better since it gives you settings options, such as selecting what number(s) to forward to) and anytime I used the dialer to place calls with my GV#, the access number was always the same. I've placed some calls on the official app and I've noticed that the access number changes with each call. Wish it'd be just one number as with the mobile site.

This GV app is going to turn out to be one of the best I have ever used. It almost seems too good to be true.

haha i know right! wife and i cancelled our $30 text plan with AT&T and use google voice as our regular cell numbers basically. everyone calls/texts us on it. works great. can also make free VOIP calls via your browser in gmail too.

I agree with you. Minus the push notification, GV Mobile + is way better.

It dials one direct number so you can add it to your A-List. You can enable do not disturb. You can dial using call back (nice for making long distance calls on the work phone), etc.

Way more features. To each his own.

yeah plus GV+ is a pay app.....google voice is free. i don't ever really use the calling features of voice, just text only. GV+ app would always give me errors connecting, plus it didn't have push notifications or auto correct on the text. to do push, i had to setup my gmail account as exchange and forward texts to my email, then check email to know it's a text then sign into the GV+ app. for a pay app, GV+ kinda sux.

it has always been buggy. before the last update it had auto correct on the text, but then after u got to the second line of texting, u couldn't see the text! then the last update, the auto correct went away.

but again, to each his own! :D

Never had any issues with mine. Plus, I got mine when it was free for 24 hours a couple of months ago.

I rarely use it for texting, so I can't comment on that.

It's an OK app but not great. I was really only interested in the SMS messages but it's kind of ugly and sluggish. I wish they would improve it.
Also I would like a way to receive an SMS notification without it displaying the contents of the message. I don't like the idea of anyone standing near my desk being able to read my messages when they pop up.
