Guys,

It's out when it's out! Wouldn't you rather that get it RIGHT than rush it out the door with bugs that you'll then complain about????

Remember, this is Apple, not Microsoft!

Just CHILL! It's not like the iPad is unuseable with 3.x on it... geesh..

Since I already have it, I don't really care when Apple will officially release it...

Agreed, by now if someone liked the Beatles, they would have already had their music in their iTunes libraries. But just wait and see, their albums will shoot to the top of the best selling charts.

They already have 3 albums in the top 30 on iTunes, 5 hours after it was announced.

Definitely a lot of crying going on.

Would be great if Apple didn't release the iOS till the 30th at 11:59pm, just for giggles.

And also plenty of blind fanboy support as well... as usual.

5 points to you both, the Beatles announcement was embarrassing, and iOS 4.2 is overdue- considering you guys are saying the GMb version has no problems.

Meh. :(

Why is it embarrassment?? I think it's a great thing for iTunes and for all those with macs, iPads, pods and iPhones.. As for iOS 4.2, it should be out very very soon, iOS 4.2 GM & GM-B has been flawless for me and it seems GM-B has cleared up the wifi bug some were having.

OK, I couldn't wait. I have the GM(b) loaded and running now. I just couldn't wait for folders, and the rest (so far) has been a bonus!

No wifi issues, and the unified mailbox works as well as my iP4.

Search within these forums for the details. You have to find the ipsw file on the internet, then update.

I'm new here. What do I need to do to get the 4.2 Beta update?

You don't want a beta version you want iOS 4.2 GM-b (b is the second Gold Master final release). It's available to developers but if you do some snooping you can find a copy online but try and stay with a reputable file sharing site, be careful for spammer and virus sites are plentiful.
Honestly at this point you might as well wait for Apple's official release of iOS 4.2 which should be out in a week or so..

I think the current rumor is the 24th...not that it matters. What matters is that it works so that y'all can go back to playing angry birds :p

Frankly I can't wait for ios 4.3. It's going to rock

Knowing Apple it won't come till ...well this is the second half of the month. I expect it 25-30th. I personally couldn't wait for 4.2. Lets just say there are ways 4.2 if you want it just now. Don't ask me how, I won't tell you. I'm sure you will find out yourself

Google iPad1,1_4.2_8C134b_Restore.ipsw

Okay I never seen the post before me :) Google is your friend.

Once you guys get iOS 4.2, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. Multitasking and folders just rock so much! Doesn't fix the ridiculous amount of reloading Safari tabs do, but aside from that, it rocks. I can only imagine how amazing iPad v.2 with 512MB+ RAM will be.

4.2 This Friday?

My guess, based on my monitoring of the iPad release here in Korea, is that 4.2 will be unleashed on Friday.

Last week the local carrier launched prelaunch pages for the iPad mid week only to pull them back down on Thursday/Friday. This tied in with 4.2 being pulled back last week.

Today the pages are back up, this time with pricing and looking ready to go.

Hence since 4.2 is critical to the iPad's release here, the two go hand in hand. KT must know something we don't!

Well that's my rumor, and this is a rumor site yes?

Apple seems to be selling iPads as fast as it can make them. Having the new features of iOS 4.2 available a few days earlier isn't critical to sales.

Apple is making their override (whatever it is) on every Beatles song and album sold on iTunes. That improves sales from the moment it goes live.

Sure, I'm looking forward to the new features being available on my iPad just like you are. It's not as important as seeing the value of my Apple stock increase, though.

I like the Beatles and I have none of their music in my library. I like them but not all their songs, and can't see buying one of their albums only to rip only 3, 4, or 5 songs off of it. I figured that sooner or later they would come to iTunes and then I could buy only the songs I want.

That has now happened and I'm happy about it.

I predicted back in early November when some hoser was whining about when 4.2 was coming out that it would come out sometime between that date and December 1, 2010. I stand by that prediction.

Any one who was confused by the announcement on Monday and thought that it was speaking of a iSO4.2 release is not well versed in things Apple. The only person to be upset about because of your misconception is you.
