I'm going to pre-order. I know I won't have the time to wait at the store and I don't want to chance the Apple store not having any in stock.

My only question about pre-ordering is the micro-sim....I can prolly activate mine at work though.

well i have a question how do i pre-order and upgrade my current iphone. is there an option that deactivates my old iphone when i get my new one. because id rather not wait on a line and i could have a final that day if the release date is early enuph.

I'll be picking mine up at my local ATT corporate store. However, I'll most likely wait a month or two to make sure that there aren't any soft/hardware issues once the device launches on a widespread scale.

I'll pre-order and reserve one in store, I'll just cancel my pre-order if I can't make it to the store that day.

When you get the new iPhone you just tether to iTunes and Apple switches your number over to use the new iPhone and SIM. Until you do that you old phone will continue to work.

Pre-ordering at AT&T. There is a store like 2 minutes from my house. The Apple store is 20 minutes. Plus, everyone I have ever met at an Apple store was a pretentious ass, rude or just plain weird.

Last year I pre-ordered at AT&T and was there 30 minutes early. A small line of 8 people. I was in and out in 20 minutes.

Pre-ordering and having it shipped to my apartment. Taking the day off work when it arrives (it's tradition and I have too much time off).

I'm very confused about the pre-order thing. I was at the AT&T store today and was asking about the pre-orders last yeAr and the rep said that the pre-orders came in a few days after the initial launch. I found it contradictory since people on here said they pre-ordered the phone and sat in a special line at the launch and were in and out in 30 minutes. He also said when they ship it to your house it was delayed a few days as well. Maybe the pre-orders are different depending on where u are. If they don't allow pre-order pickups the same day as launch where I live I'll be pissed. I live in Orange Park Fl btw. Near Jacksonville.

Keep in mind, there is pre-ordering and there is reserving. 2 different things.

I think most people that pre-order (pre-pay) have it delivered to their home/business.

I reserved mine @ the Apple store.

I can't verify if what the AT&T store told you is true or not and if it was a pre-order or a reserve. I seem to recall that it was different if you went to AT&T vs Apple.

so when you get the new phone sent to your house, you just sync it with your itunes, I guess you have to call att right? to switch the number over? Im a little lost at how this phone stuff works also

No, the post you quoted was correct. That's it...nothing else to it.

I'll have it shipped to my house because 1) wasting time in line is pointless when UPS delivers and 2) I'm really an@l when it come to opening up my new toys and I don't want cede the pleasure to the Apple employees.

Could just be the area you live. The staff at the Apple stores near me (DC Metro) are always very friendly towards me. Even the Geniuses.

For the pre order option, should I use the AT&T site or apple or does it make no difference?

So I can reserve it at the AT&T store and gaurentee one when I go pick it up n launch day? it would be nice to not have to wait in line but still be sure to get one.
