For some reason I didn't realize the whole bottom is open. That makes me worried about the protection. I've seen the older cases and thought they were good, and have the red one on my Retina iPad Mini. I ordered a red one for my iPhone 6 Plus. I'm going to try to go caseless at first and see how that goes. I bought the case for when I'm going on a trip or something where I'll have my phone out a lot while being really active, but I'm worried about dropping it and having it hit on that edge. My iPhone 5 got a big scratch on the screen from dropping it just at the right angle and it fell onto the metal ring of a scale in the bathroom. Of course it always falls on the part that is most exposed. The case I had even had a lip around the edge, but since the metal was curved it hit in the middle. Luckily that phone had a broken sleep/wake so I got it replaced but still. That was the only time I dropped that phone so the anxiety of going caseless might get to me, which is another reason why I bought it. But damn, $50 for a case was hard to swallow. I mean, on my iPad it makes sense to pay more, what with the hinged glass cover and magnets, but for a phone?

I ordered Gold iPhone 6+ and this case for it: Crystal Clear and 0.3mm thin. There's no reason to hide the gold color in color case..it's nonsense.

fallenjt - What is the name of that case or where can I find a link to buy it?

Thanks.

Wow, I haven't considered getting one of the Apple leather cases because I was concerned how they would look and hold up with wear. Your case actually looks better with wear in my opinion!

As darkslide mentioned the iPhone 6 Plus is 7.1 mm so the case would add a further 3mm on each side. In other words it would add 6mm to the depth/thickness of the phone making it 13.1mm in total depth.

Thinking about it that's not far off double the phones thickness.

Things like that make me say forget that, I'm going case-less.

New Case

I wish that the case had a closed bottom like the 5S case. I drop my phone somewhat regularly and an open bottomed case won't work for me. I know that Apple makes good cases.

Well, thats a bit to thick I think. Thanks anyway! I've been looking for some cases with a kickstand. usually i don't like that kind, but since the screen is bigger i was thinking i might use the iPhone more frequently for things like netflix. Searched a bit on ebay but theres still not anything worth buying. Guess meanwhile il have to stick to something like the feather case.

I keep thinking the same thing. Such a great piece of industrial design wrapped up in a case....But then, there are the drops and bumps, so theres pretty much no option until Apple brings in tougher materials.

Can you not just find a case you like and use some random object to prop up the phone? You might regret buying a kickstand case only to find you use it very infrequently after the novelty wears off.

As you know buying a new model of phone on release is always difficult if you're after a case because you have such limited options. There will be hundreds on the market for you to choose from in the coming months. You may just want to buy a cheap one for the time being until more options become available.

I'm surprised more people aren't considering bumpers. I found a third party one for the 6+ on amazon for 20 bucks. Provides a decent level of protection but allows the design of the iPhone to shine through.

I ordered my iPhone 6 alone to make sure I wouldn't have any issues and it should be arriving the 19th but the silicone case I ordered minutes later still says processing. I'm worried I'll drop my new iPhone before the case arrives and shatter the screen.

Same here. The silicone cases went FAST. Ordered in the middle of the night Friday and got an October ship date. I'll probably go the the Apple Store this weekend and try to grab one, then cancel my online order.

This past Sunday an AT&T Store I went to already had a rack of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus cases (they were unmarked as to what phone but it was easy to tell from the buttons and ports.) I took a look at a Pelican case to get a feel for the iPhone 6 Plus that I should be getting this Friday.

Apple is all about minimalist packaging, and part of that is reportedly due to environmental concerns. Plus, Tim Cook is said to be a master of logistics.

So how does shipping cases and phones separately (to customers who bought both) make any environmental or financial sense?

Not convinced about this iPhone at all. The biggest disappointment is camera…..still 8MP and 1080 video?!?!? I am not photos specialist but pixel is pixel. If I want to make pictures for my family and crop it after that…well 8MP won’t help me much. It has been like 4 generations iPhones with the same camera!!! Not mention waterproof capabilities etc. Apple not even doing catching up anymore.
I am sick and tired of Apple counting on us being loyal

Before jumping to conclusions and assuming that more megapixels means better camera, go read up the on the camera reviews and learn about megapixels on a phone. You may be surprised how easy you fell into the marketing gimmick of "higher number equals better".

Different source locations I expect.

If you get a phone shipped to your house, you'll notice it is in a perfect rectangle box that is just big enough for the phone. I imagine a large number of these also fit perfectly onto a shipping pallet, with the pallet arriving at once in a US hub before individually being sent to their destinations. Adding cases to some orders would throw this process off.

I also imagine the cases don't necessarily get made or come from the same plant as the iPhone, which likely goes straight from the factory to its destination.

What's the hullabaloo? Per the 2 cases comparison, there is only a little difference in volume. iPhone 6 plus means more work for my hands but so much easier in my eyes that I will probably stare at it all day everyday.

Cue: Future Apple's ad voice over" "iPhone 6, MORE beautiful and MORE addictive than ever."

Pity the leather case is going to get dirty as soon as its out of the box. No way im going to fall for that case again, especially at that price.

I am thinking of gong all-out white (kind of) by getting the white silicon case. I am imagining it will be even more stunning and sexy, or should I say gigantically elegant.

----------

Por favor, to to those who got their white silicon case for iPhone 6 Plus - pics please. Squishy or hard?
