And had a great race in very humid conditions, and was inside my projected time of 55:00 with 53:54. It was my first ever race.

Congratulations, that's great! So, are you hooked yet? ;) I think if I tried to race after 2 full weeks off I'd fall apart in the first mile or two.

I took 10 days off after my marathon to allow my knees to heal, and have been slowly building back in to real training. So far my knees have not hurt, so I'll keep adding distance to my runs as long as that continues.

It's shocking how fast aerobic fitness can disappear. I guess it comes back pretty quickly though. :)

Awhile back it was suggested I take glucosamine and fish oil for my knees/joints.
Been taking glucosamine with chondroitin.
Also odourless fish oil, in a capsule.

I have noticed a difference since taking them, less knee pain after running and more flexibility.
It's not medicine so no side effects (though people allergic to shellfish might react to glucosamine.

Worth looking into.
Hope your much better soon.

thanks much, that sounds like good advice, and as you say, it can't hurt.

I'm doing well with my recovery. Over 5 miles today - I think it was nearly 5.5, but my nike+ is doing its under-reporting thing again. Anyway, still no knee pain running, so I'll just keep building back up to my regular milage. :)

glad to hear it. i, on the other hand, will not be at my regular mileage for a while. i am having some issues, that aren't directly running related

Oh, I won't be back to normal for a while either, but I'm encouraged by the progress I'm making. :)

Sorry to hear about your problems. I hope everything works out Ok.

Pretty quiet for May...I am extremely busy with work and it does not look like it will let up until at least July. Still trying to get my mileage in though...

Indeed, nice job ziwi! Looking good.

I'm going to run 10 tomorrow, and if all goes well, I'm lifting the self-imposed restrictions on my training and going back to running every day. Here's hoping!

very good to hear. glad you are feeling good. i could try to run now, but i'm going to be smart and wait a little while longer. my college running is over, so no need to hurry

This sounds quite fun.

I run around 2+ miles 5 (or 4) days a week, and would love to join this challenge.

I don't have the Nike+ thingy yet, but I need new running shoes. Where do I look to get the info I need to get started and join the challenge?

you could go to nikeplus.com to read up about what it's about. but you don't have to have nike+ shoes to use nike+. you can buy a pouch to hold the sensor on your shoe, or there are other methods of cutting your shoe. i use a pouch

yes, being smart about coming back is the way to go. I took it easy for a month after my marathon, and now I feel really good and my knee is ready to go. Definitely better than rushing back and still being hurt.
