For a watch at that price point , that box and charger are embarrassing. Something I would expect for the SS model

Anyone else underwhelmed by the packaging? You can buy a car for that much money.., I guess I was expecting more

but sadly she is missing a thumb.

The unfortunate result of an accident while touring the (notoriously dangerous) Apple Watch plant in Shenzhen.

The gold watch is part of Apple's standard payout/hush money/settlement in these situations.

If Apple made a coffee it would be a premium coffee with the option of a gold cup addition as obviously the coffee tastes better in a gold cup.

I'm sure I'm alone here but this watch is the most dull watch I have ever seen and the packaging doesn't look premium what so ever. Enjoy the day you buy it, as you will be using the stop watch to count down the days when you will be paying for the newest, slimmest version yet.

The Watch is a "watch" only in name. Insisting on comparing it with legacy timepieces is just silly.

Not really. It may have dramatically different capabilities, but it is still a direct replacement for - and thus competitor for - existing, non-smart-watches. I can't imagine many people wearing an Apple Watch and a normal watch.

Since the steel and Edition watches both come in white boxes, maybe it'll be the same for the Sport except less fancy cases inside?

Might be the case that the box is the same, but there's a 5c-like case which contains the watch. I think that would look fine.

Yeah, I just hope its not a cop out. I mean £300 is still a lot for a smartwatch.

Apparently 9to5Mac 'by contrast, the Apple Watch Sport comes in a different box to the steel and gold variants. The Sport is shipped in a rounded rectangle shape, rather than a typical jewellery box.'

Would be a shame, but at the end of the day it's only the packaging.

The retail box looks really cheap for a $10K+ watch.

What do cases for other $10K+ watches look like?

I'm intrigued, what exactly are all those other bits in the box.

Different straps, a watchmakers loupe (magnifying glass type deal), strap changing tool and some kind of medallion I guess. Admittedly a number of these items are irrelevant for the Apple Watch but still it gives the feeling of it being an extremely premium item.

So it's not a box, it's a toss pot. I love wearing watches, but if they're not on my wrist I don't care how well they're boxed. Apple watch included.

Lame packaging. The watch face (regardless of being a black mirror) should face you when opened.

That's lovely, you must be so proud...

The Sport model comes in an unapologetic ziplock bag. And you'll love it.

Haha

Yeah, I just remember Steve always cared that the packaging was nice
