It's working fine for me so far. I used Transmission before, which fluctuates the speeds very much, and usually doesn't find enough peers. But with uTorrent, more peers and more stable high speed. I hope it continues like that.

However, I haven't seen a way where it just shows the simple numbers of how many peers (including purse seeders) you are connected too. My only option seems to be to look at the peer list directly and count...

Well, it looks like uTorrent suffers from the same issue Transmission does. It downloads a lot of unusable data

(The file I tested it on was 206 MB, but it downloaded 232 MB, so 26 MB was discarded. On Vuze I get 20MB+ of discarded data only on torrents that are over 1.5-2 GB)

Forgive me for my ignorance, but why does this matter so much? If it downloads the stuff in a timely fashion i see no problem. The problem might stem from a bad peer and not transmission itself. Check in the transmission preferences and see about getting a list for the bad peers thing.

Yeah I'm downloading a huge torrent with Vuze right now with 24gb down only 16mb discarded doing it faster than uTorrent was too. Also if you value your data downloaded with uTorrent you better make a backup of it first before removing the torrent from the list damn thing cost me a whole season when I tested it last night, it just deletes everything from the disk even though I choose only the torrent no data no move to trash at all impressive...

It matters a lot because my connection is slow-@$$ 128kbps (16 KB/sec max) and downloads take ages to complete. If the app downloads so much unused data (taking even MORE time) there's a problem. Strange thing is that it only happens in Transmission and uTorrent. Vuze and other apps I've tried are ok in this regard. I wouldn't be using Vuze, but I have to because the discarded data is within reasonable limits (20+ MB for 2+ GB files)

I'd really like to solve this issue :(

Will keep that in mind, thx.

i think i am goingt o stick to transmission for now, until beta has at least some updates and such.. can;t wait for it to be almost as good as the windows one...

I've been pretty happy with Vuze, maybe I'll try this out though. It seems to have some issues at the moment since it's only in beta, so I won't delete Vuze quite yet, but I'll give utorrent a chance.

Good. Been using it a little while, and it works nicely. Faster than Transmission for me. Thank God for DHT.

Of course there's much work to be done, but for a Beta this is great.

Is there a way to make it ask you where to save each file? I don't really like how you have to choose a folder to save every file in.

I just don't understand why they said it's Intel Macs only but it seems to work fine for me on my iBook G4 which is PowerPC Mac.. :D

seems to download stuff faster then Vuze, whats the reason for that?

well of course, because it's not some kind of Vuze, it's uTorrent for crying out loud :D It's the best torrent client out there!!

I read on their forum that the support for the PPC is there just not tested as well as Intel so they left it enabled for the brave to have a go.

That was not my experience it was doing about half the speed of what Vuze was doing both before and after I tested it.

Oh, cool! Well there are a few bugs but works good anyway.
Some features i miss from Transmission are that it shows download speed in dock icon. It also doesn't associate and uploading doesn't really work for me.. Also download speed for each torrent can't be seen.. or can it?

Right click on the columns in the main screen and you can add a column to watch DL per torrent. Took me a a while to stumble upon this also.

Read in the uTorrent forums that the ratio column does not work though.

Yeah you have to do an open with to get it to open a torrent, the uploading worked fine here it maxed out the 95k/s I can give it without affecting any thing else.

As has already been mentioned right clicking on the bar gives you a variety of things you can choose to have displayed that included.

NOT a fan of the Mac version. I love the Windows version of uTorrent, but the Mac version is sucking down a ridiculous amount of CPU power. My MBP is hot as hell, and transfers don't seem that much faster, if at all.

I'll be sticking with Transmission until this is out of beta.

How much CPU% does it take on your computer?

I use it on my MacBook rev. B and it takes only 1.1-1.5% of my CPU.

I take my words back... uTorrent has suddenly started taking 100% CPU (seeding 3 torrents currently) :(

If you like the win version, but not the mac version, and have an intel mac, why not use darwine and run the win version? It works fine in wine...
