Does anyone else have a problem associating uTorrent with .torrent files? I want to be able to download the .torrent and double click it, but with uTorrent it never launches and my Finder 'resets' itself. With Transmission associated with a .torrent it simply opens transmission and starts downloading.

This is especially handy when I tell firefox to "open with", which I cannot do with uTorrent currently. I have to paste the URL of the torrent file into the uTorrent open dialog. (It's simply another step in it's current incarnation).

Yes... I have this same problem. It is a known issue with the beta that is mentioned in the uTorrent forums.

I tried to find mention on the uTorrent forums, but they look dead as can be. Maybe I'm missing something since I'm not signed up?

*Edit: Yup! I see the Mac related forums now.

I tried the beta, however have since gone back to Transmission as I find it a lot more stable. Also utorrent used 100% of my CPU. I'm sure these bugs will be sorted soon, but until then I can't use it.

It does have a very easy to use interface though!

I found that uTorrent doesn't respect the upload speed limit I set. That's unfortunately a no go for me, so it's back to Transmission.

lately with the last update i 've been finding transmission doen't respect my upload limit either...

I'm having some serious disk issues with this Beta.

It keeps filling up my disk and sucked all of my available RAM. This is normal:

The Finder was also giving me the error messages about a full startup disk. Guess I'll have to stick with Transmission for a while longer...

Im getting the same. Have 6GB of free space on my HD and 4GB of ram... I was so excited about this, but its unusable and the downloads take forever!

anyone know if support for Tiger is coming anytime soon?
I'm not too upset, since Transmission has been working fine for me but I'd like to try it out.

Well, for what it looks, it will take a while until it's Final (probably 1 more year) then better suppport for PPC macs and then maybe.. but it seems to be going really slow.. :(

The utorrent team isn't exactly heralded as the fastest developers in the west. They took well over a year to push out a public beta after private alphas were spotted in the wild, last summer.

Yeah.. that's what i noticed.. I saw some discussions that there will be utorrent for mac like a year ago and now it's only Beta.. They are really slow.. but beta is all i need. i mean it works great and it's uTorrent :) Now we can wait another year :D

Hey guys! I just noticed that uTorrent Mac Beta 0.9.0.1 version has just been released! :) It fixes the bug with file associations! :) Now you can open .torrent file with uTorrent by opening it from Finder :) Yay! It doesn't look that slow now, does it? :)

The problem I have with uTorrent is that it thinks that the configured TCP port can't be reached but it can.

I set up port forwarding on my AP and if I use Transmission, the same port can be reached.

Have you tried switching to a couple of different ports then back? When I first tried it would not take my normal port but doing this somehow made it find the one I wanted.

Did they fix the data loss when removing a torrent file from the list deleted the data as well?

Hopefully they will fix this in 0.9.0.2 ;) I also noticed that they need a seperate .torrent file icon for torrent files and down up speed notifications in dock's icon like transmission ;)

I just hope they fix the "startup disk is almost full" error and 100% CPU usage - 2 things that keep me using this *(@^!$%^$ Vuze.

No, but Transmission downloads a lot of unnecessary data so its no go for me.

I can understand that. I always uncheck the txt and nfo files but it still downloads them. All this time i thought it was just me.
I always have to go to the folder after its done and clean up all the unwanted files.

Its not like that for me. The number in Session download is usually 20-50% bigger than the number in the actual file's progress indicator. Seems like a LOT of discarded data.
