My 16 is more than enough. If I "need" 32gb of music and video (apps don't use much room) then I need to walk my butt in a best buy and plop down a few bones for a 120gb pod (which I have done).

I've managed to get the entire season one and two of Squidbillies and Aqua Teen Hunger Force as well as 1000 songs and 134 apps on my 16gb. Any more than that much media on a PHONE is just excessive (like 16gb isn't excessive already).

Sure it would be nice to have the ability, but nobody should NEED that space on a phone. iPod will cover your media library, phones should be for on the go stuff for the day. It's like a car.... Sure I'd like a car with a trunk space big enough to fit half my life in, but I'm only going to be gone for a day, couple if I have to take a quick trip. I don't need the whole house in my temporary day to day life outings.

I will however jump on the 64gb iPhone in a year or so when they drop it since I can justify putting enough on it to eliminate my pod.
Right now I can only fit maybe 1/3 of my music on my 8GB iPhone. Because I have a Pioneer head unit with docking cable in my car I don't need to use CDs anymore. I want to put all of my music on my iPhone so that I don't have to keep shuffling tons of music around whenever I want to hear a certain album not on the phone. That's just a pain in my butt. Sure I can live without a larger iPhone, it would just be really, really nice to at least get all my music on it.

Waiting Inpatiently!

So any predictions on when the 32gb iPhone might wave its shiny glossy screen at us?

Seen 1st Quarter '09 mentioned, is that the same for the UK?

I have seen Dec release mentioned too!

My phone is due for upgrade and I really want an iPhone don't think I can resist for too long though! 32gb would def be better!

the iphone 3G hype is still strong enough to carry the phone through the holiday season, that is unless Apple sees the release of the Bold/Storm/G1 being a big threat, that might prompt them to release the 32g before the holiday season starts

and apple releases are usually universal, so the moment it hits the US it should hit the UK too.

32gb iPhone isn't far fetched at all. As long as they can get it on a single chip, I would assume power consumption would be less with a single 32gb chip. Upping storage will be an easy way for Apple to attempt to keep Android phones at bay.

Another good question is when will the iPod classic line go flash? We know they can go greater than 120gb with a hard drive since there was once upon a time a 160gb version. Or do we just see a shift completely to the touch if capacities get in the neighborhood of 64gb and 80gb? If the Touch become the flagship iPod, then Apple can pimp the AppStore even more.

I wouldn't mind a 32 GB iPhone either. I doubt I'd need all of that space but it would definitely be convenient to have.

I just don't see why the lack of a 32GB has been a deal-breaker or cause for complaint for so many people.

Coming from a 16GB Touch, to an 8GB iPhone, to a 16GB iPhone3G, I learned to utilize something that has improved my music-listening experience a thousand-fold: PLAYLISTS

Getting used to the 16GB Touch after a 30GB iPod was a little tough, but, at that time, my library was smaller so it didn't hurt too bad. But, when I decided to go for the iPhone, and was only budgeted for the 8GB, I had to get creative with my use of Smart and regular playlists.

And, having to actually place some thought into what I loaded onto my iPhone revolutionized the way I listened to my content. I may have only 16 out of the 100 or so GB of my iTunes Library, but it's 16GB that I actually will listen to. Not even that much, honestly. I'm sure I could get by with less.

The point is, I enjoy making playlists by hand, I love seeing what songs a Smart playlist I've created will contain. I've found songs in my library I had forgotten about and might never have found if I could just load it all onto my iPhone. It has been a lot of fun. Much like when I was a kid making mix-tapes. Except playlists are a lot easier and faster to make!

Anyway, certainly a 32GB will come, and a 64, and a 128, and on and on. As time passes, your library will grow and, for me at least, it will always outstrip whatever size iPhone is available.

Sometimes making the best of limitations produces better results then when you have no restrictions at all.

I wonder if in ten years SSDs (and other flash memory) will have caught up with my ever growing audio library.

or the wireless net would become so powrful that everyone can use the same audio library and all audio can be download within seconds. :) Just a thought.

No thanks. A worldwide broadband connection would entail powerful broadband satellites – something that isn't possible in this day and age. Ten years from now is no time at all.
Secondly, if everyone could – from the same library – "download within seconds" (i.e. it would be streaming because of copyrights and whatnot) it would mean we would have the lowest common denominator (by that time, propably 128kbps AAC) which isn't good enough.
Third, much of my audio isn't even music, but my own audio productions and recordings, and I certainly wouldn't want that to be on a public server. Even if I wanted, I couldn't, as the moment I sell a story, a documentary or just a piece, I don't own the rights to publish and distribute it as I wish anymore, although I do own the copyright.

I don't use google apps either. I like to be in control – all the way.

well, you're right. i do not think of those things.

32GB? why would you need that much space? I have 8 GB on my Iphone and its plenty!

Go buy three movies from the iTunes Store. Put them on your iPhone. There goes 4GB. Try to put an entire season of a 30-minute TV show on your iPhone. That's more than 5GB.

If you only have a few songs on your iPhone, I get thinking 8GB is plenty. That's who buys the iPod nanos. But there is a big segment of us that basically want every piece of media we own in our pocket. Such a thing will probably never happen, but we want to get as close as we can.
