That doesn't look like it's on the surface of the screen, but inside of it. Since the display is laminated, there's not a way to disassemble/clean the interior.

Did the Apple shop say they couldn't do anything? I'd think they'd have suggested a screen replacement. But I guess if they suspect oil elsewhere in the system, maybe they don't think they can adequately clean it up.

the suggested to buy a new screen for 700 pounds, which is ridicules .. i dont really mind the small black spot , i was wondering if there is a way to keep the computer runing as long as possible ...

Thanks for clarifying. "Can't do anything" really means, "More than I want to pay."

I wouldn't consider that a "small" black spot. It hides part of the Dock, which I'd find too annoying on a long-term basis. But to each his own.

As to "keep the computer running as long as possible..." without knowing whether there's oil elsewhere in the system that may eventually lead to more failures, the question is impossible to answer. The oil inside the screen is also likely to move around over the course of time. Again, no predicting what that may mean long-term.
