Any AT&T UDP holders tempted by the Sprint half price offer? Right now Sprint offers UDPs for $60 ($50 if you buy an iPhone), but a lot of us AT&T UDP holders have plans at $70 or $75 if we have the NW 450 with PAYG text or the legacy $5 text plan. At $35 or $37.50 (not including the existing FAN discounts Sprint says they'll honor), it could make it worthwhile over 2 years or so, even if we do need to turn in current-enough phones (i.e. worth $200) and buy new phones.

At the very least, it could give us some leverage with AT&T Retentions. Any thoughts?

Everyone knows how Sprint service is...even AT&T. I don't think they are going to try very hard to keep you if you threaten to switch to Sprint. They know you will be back. :)

We'll see. Chicago is a Sprint Spark area, and Sprint recently came in 2nd in a download test. http://blog.laptopmag.com/fastest-4g-lte-chicago

IIRC, sprint doesn't provide any sort of domestic carrier unlock after you complete your contract with them, so you wouldn't be able to BYOD to any other carrier should you switch again. So you'd basically have to get another iPhone should you take your service to another carrier.

That's not good business, which is what ticked us off in the US to begin with.

BL.

True, though they are part of the "voluntary" interoperability agreement with the FCC for new devices developed after February 2015. That doesn't do us any good with this promotion, but the Sprint iPhone 6S should be unlockable. My guess is that those on this promotion will need to keep buying phones at full price to keep the plan, so the next iPhones that people choose to buy will be "portable" to another carrier.
