Ok Overclocking the HD2600 in Vista?

Sounds wierd, what happens when you run it? You could also try the latest beta4 version http://www.overclock.net/downloads/138452-atitool.html

ah thanks for the link, i will try that out a bit later 2nite.

there are two problems that it will do when i open it:
A) completely freeze and i will have to go into task manager and quite it
or
B) open (after about 1 minute), then when i move the sliders it wont change the ratio at all, even after i hit set. (yes i have set up a profile thingo and all that)

Interesting, I did not change anything, just installed it and started to change the clockspeed. On my laptop with a x1600 ati card, the screen go black when I start atitool, then I have to put the laptop to standby and back to get the screen working again with atitool started.

You could also try atitray tool? It works fine on my laptop but not as easy to use as atitool I think.

Interesting, I did not change anything, just installed it and started to change the clockspeed. On my laptop with a x1600 ati card, the screen go black when I start atitool, then I have to put the laptop to standby and back to get the screen working again with atitool started.

lol we have opposites!!!

my x1600 MBP works perfectly with atitool (0.25b i think).

but the imac kinda packs it in. will check that atitray thanks!

Do you have SP1 installed on Vista? Have read somewhere that atitool can cause the pc to crash after installing SP1.

no its a slipstreamed version of an original XP disk.

MBP has exactly the same version, so i dont think thats the issute. 😕

Hoping someone can help me out a little.

I'm definitely interested in OC'n my 24" IMac (late 07 model) for gaming on XP SP2 with bootcamp.

I went and looked at some of the links on here, great info. I was wondering what everyone thinks about the ATI drivers. I noticed some interesting things with the version numbers, (I'm at work so can't give specifics)

I updated to the new bootcamp version, which updated the ATI graphics driver. The release number is more up to date than the latest bootcamp ATI driver posted on AMD's website. But the date from the bootcamp install is an earlier date than the driver on AMD's site?

Also, I have been unsuccessful in getting the ATI catalyst control center to install? Any idea's on why it won't install, and do I need it?

For XP sp2, where can I get the ATI tool? And what is the difference between it and the tray tool?

Also, if anyone who has one of the 24" late 07 Imacs I'd love to hear step by step instructions of what you've done with success.

FYI, I'm looking to improve my performance playing Age of Conan, which is pretty sweet, but graphics hungry.

Doesn anyone know how to o/c the 8800 in Vista Ultimate? Do I just install laptopdrivers2go and then use RivaTuner?

I know this thread is old, but it's got some great info. Unfortunately, I'm still not having much luck! Maybe someone will have some ideas...

I have a Alu 2.66 w/ R2600, I'm running Windows XP with all the latest updates, and am using the latest (9.2) Catalyst drivers from ATI, patched via Mobility Modder.

ATI Tool opens up in my tray, but sits there hogging CPU and trying to load... finally it just gives some odd value like -1/-1 and I have to force quit it.

AMD GPU Tool loads fine, but when I try to apply new clock settings, it basically does... nothing. It looks as though it applies, but no changes actually take place.

ATI Tray does seem to apply the changes... I know this, because when I attempt to apply them I immediately get a BSOD and have to restart.
I'm making sure to raise the core 7mhz and memory 9mhz (From the base of 600/685).

Any ideas?

I had a problem like yours on my laptop and found a workaround that might work for you as well. Press alt+tab after you have started the game you wish to play to return to windows and leave the game in the background. Then overclock the card with whatever tool you have and return to the game.
I used this little trick with great success with world of warcraft, seems like having the game running in the background triggers the 3d part of the graphics card and allows you to change the clock. I have a theory that the 3d engine take over control of the graphics card from windows.
