Relax. I thought it was funny that someone wearing a bracelet like that would consider the milanese loop band "ridiculous".

Haha, I was thinking the exact same thing. While I'm not getting the Milanese loop, I couldn't help but wonder why I would take fashion advice from someone who wears a studded wrist band with a suit. If he can dish out statements like that to people who want one, I don't see why people defend that its graceless to question his fashion sense. He's a big boy, I'm sure he could care less what anyone thinks

You guys are rather graceless.

That's Nilay's cuff; he's worn it for the last 15+ years. It's deeply sentimental to him as it serves a commemorative purpose.
Care to share as to what commemorative purpose it serves? I'm curious.

The breakup of his high school rock band.
He looks awfully young to have been in high school in 1983 when those cuffs were in style. ;)

Unless...don't tell me there was a revival. Did parachute pants ever come back in style, too? I heard they were going to but maybe it was one of those blink and you missed it revivals. If big shoulder pads ever come back in style, count me out. I was ripping them out of my clothes the first time around.

So yeah, it's his thing, I still carry my checkerboard op wallet from 1983 and wear checkerboard vans so I'm sentimental about stuff, but saying that the watch band was silly... Umm hey I think it's fine to rock your own look, but you have to know when you call something else silly....

I wear whatever I want, I'm completely silly:p BUT I avoid calling anyone silly for wearing something I may not like.

This is funny because of the context,
but I LOVE people with ***** to do what they want.

LOL I still carry my velcro wallet that I bought in like `91 or `92.

The worst part of Nilay's review was the part where he got fashion advice from Racked. Racked!? I was cracking up listening to those girls think they knew a thing about fashion.

This is why I don't care about scores from the verge. somehow the moto 360 is an 8.1/10 and the apple watch is a 7/10.... I don't have anything totally against the moto, but after wearing one for a bit it seems like the apple watch is going to be much better.

When the moto was released, there was nothing like it. When the Apple watch was released, it is only on par with current devices. Therefore it gets a lower score. If it didn't we would have a 14/10 score in 10 years.

Mindless ad hominem attacks against one reviewer. Not good.

That is when you know he is right, they have no arguments against what he is saying.

Yup. Btw, Ben Bajarin tweeted that the milanese loop is the most comfortable watch band he's ever worn. :)

It ain't got nothin' on Nilay Patel's custom spiked watch band for the Watch.

If you think the Apple watch isn't designed better in every way, you need to step back into reality. I mean we all know you do know it deep down, but there's not a chance in hell you would admit to it. Says something about a person.

Yeah it was so cringe worthy lmao. I LOVED how they all felt on the spot when asked about it and clearly were making up whatever they could think of that the others hadn't already said. The one girl stuttered over her flip flopping can't make up my mind answer for like 30 seconds.

Too funny. :p

I find it interesting too that he says the sport band is like any other plastic band he's worn while John Gruber calls the sport band "luxurious" (in a mostly objective review).
He should have put eyeliner on, then he would have completed the rockstar look.

Just because you think it looks better than the other devices out there, doesn't make it a better device. It has nothing that the other smart devices aren't already doing. I mean we all know you do know it deep down, but there's not a chance in hell you would admit to it. Says something about a person.

judging by the reviews , it's a brilliant design let down by the initial software and lag. If your idea of lag being a better design, we live In a different reality. For me a slow software experice would result In a lower review score, the way hardware looks is one thing , though it also needs to be responsive.

Really? Subtle taps instead of hard vibrates? Force touch to bring up contextual menus? Accurate heartrate tracking? Insane levels of customization? Quality materials? Quality bands? Simple payment solution?

Seriously I just want to find out if you can admit that a single thing about the Apple watch is better designed. Can you? Can you not admit that the bands are far better?

iOS 8.3 which was just released today has a watch fix. They could easily release another in the next two weeks. Assuming there is lag.

Relax. I thought it was funny that someone wearing a bracelet like that would consider the milanese loop band "ridiculous".

Why? It actually makes perfect sense why someone wearing a studded band like that would consider an fine Milanese loop as ridiculous . There are going to be people who will think of the Milanese loop band as ridiculous, that is why apple is giving us options. Trying to discredit the bloke in multiple threads, cause you got banned from the verge website and it gave a somewhat poor review , are you sure you want to be that guy ?

I think the Milanese loop that apple produced looks feminine and be great for a female, so yeah , if I was sent a review unit, I'd also not wear it.

"Subtle taps instead of hard vibrates"
A notification is a notification, you are going to notice it.

"Force touch to bring up contextual menus"
So it is a two button mouse instead of one? Having tons of menus and setting is being better? (btw apps can't access that)

"Accurate heartrate tracking"
Remains to be seen. I don't believe it. Some of the review says it doesn't. The ones who claims it does, don't provide numbers.

"Insane levels of customization"
Doesn't make it a better smart watch, thats just looks. It has only a set of watch faces, the other smart watches you can download anything.

"Quality materials"
Doesn't make it a better smart watch, thats just looks.

"Can you not admit that the bands are far better"
Better? well if you make a band for the moto for $500, will that one be worse than the apple one? Consindering Apple's usual margins, i'll claim the moto will be of better quality.

See you literally will do anything but admit a single thing is good about it. How in the hell are materials and design of something you wear not important to you? Would you go outside with a plastic watch you purchased at the dollar general?

'A notification is a notification' seriously? You just straight lie if you can't admit that a subtle tap is better than a hard monotonous vibration for every notification. Obviously a notification is a notification, you'll be notified either way, but that's not at all the point... The point is this is something that you might wear all day every day..you do not want a hard monotonous vibration for every single notification forever.

Force touch is good because it declutters the tiny display of other buttons and the need to dig further into a hierarchy of menus, only to have to back track and waste time.

You're right accurate heartrate remains to be seen and I'm skeptical but optimistic. they spent a lot of time getting optical as accurate on the wrist as possible.

A band made for the Moto by Motorola will never come close to the design and craftsmanship of Apple, it's just a different company with different values.

The reviewer is a complete moron. He had absolutely no business saying anything about the Milanese loop, other than if it seemed to catch his arm hair or the magnet didn't seem to make it tight or wasn't strong. I mean where the hell do you get off judging that band when you're wearing that studded hideous monstrosity on your other wrist?

An intelligent reviewer would be objective. Instead, of saying what his idiotic personal taste of the Milanese loop is, he should have worn it and tried it out because it's HIS GOD DAMN JOB. I mean how pretentious is this person that he won't even wear a band to do his job of reviewing? He should never be allowed to review anything again in his life.

Patel seems to be reasonably fit and exercises. When you sweat, plastic band feels horrible. Gruber sits 24/7 on his ass. The only times he sweats is when he runs to the bank to cash in his Apple Pay-check. :D

Patel seems reasonably fit? Really?

To me he seems fat and far from fit. You need to raise your standards.
