I installed a tweak today called CalSwitch9.

It lets you choose one application to open another. Way back when there was an iOS tweak (YahooWeatherIsBetter!) that would allow you to press the stock weather icon but would load Yahoo Weather instead.

With CalSwitch9 I now have this feature back - but it's not limited to just one app. So, once again, the stock weather app is on my springboard - but it loads Yahoo Weather instead. :D

Do people do this because they don't like the Yahoo Weather icon?

I don't get it.

I do it because when I press on the stock weather app icon I want Yahoo Weather to load. And that is how I set it up. Yahoo Weather is better than the stock weather app.

But with this tweak you can also redirect to other apps. Say you want Google Calendar to load when you press the stock Calendar app icon. You can do that with this tweak.

I guess I don't get it.

I don't see what's wrong with pressing the icon for the app you want.

If you set it up to get google maps to load when you tap the stock maps icon would it also effect Siri? I would love to be able to set google maps as the default maps app, and that would be a feature worth jailbreaking again for. If it just switches the icons I don't see the point.

I will admit that it's less of a thing for me now, but back with iOS 6 you could have live weather on the stock weather icon. Having YahooWeatherIs Better allowed you to stylize the stock weather app icon, but still load Yahoo Weather.

In my earlier second example I would prefer a different app to load when pressing on the stock calendar app. But I keep the stock calendar app on my springboard because unlike Google Calendar the stock calendar icon changes number with the date. The Google Calendar app icon does not.

I'm not sure. I haven't tried that yet. I was also wondering if you could redirect Safari to a different browser. But I haven't tried that yet either because I already have Browser Changer.

The old tweak also modified the weather widget in the NC. So it has me wondering if it will do the same here.

I would do it exactly for this reason. Yahoo's weather app icon looks smaller than lighter colored icons for some reason (as do all other dark icons) so I chose to stay away for that reason.

What repo is it under? It's not coming up in search for me.

The live weather icon reason for iOS 6 makes sense.

The calendar date on icon is another good reason.

For those two apps it makes sense.

Thanks Erik.

Well if you try it quote my post so I get a notification and let me know if it works or not.

Sorry I missed this!

It's tateu's repo: http://tateu.net/repo/

Thanks for posting.
There's a tweak called OpenOther that does something similar, at least for iOS <=8.
I use it so I can keep the stock calendar icon (that's shows today's date) but open my preferred calendar app (awesome cal) when I tap it.
It's most useful for the "live" icons, otherwise you could just change the icon using iFile, etc.
But also handy if you want a different icon for frequently updated apps, since you don't have to go back and change the icon everytime there's an update.
Does CalSwitch let you do multiple apps?
OpenOther lets you redirect up to three.

Yes, OpenOther is what I have used in the past (not on iOS 7 or 8 jailbreaks though), but it is limited to three.

CalSwitch9 does not have a limit.

That's really slick! I like using Google's Calendar app also, but dislike the fact that the icon isn't a widget like the stock Calendar app. So I re-installed GCal, made the connection in CS9, then hid GCal using HideMeX. Just like clockwork! Thanks Eric!

You're very welcome!

This is exactly why the tweak (and previous tweaks like it) was created. Glad people are finding uses for it!
